Funny, it seems ridiculously early but I've spoken to apartment agencies in the past who have told me they are all booked up and that I should have called them in June!

Back to plans, after about 30 visits to Val D'Isere I fell in love with Vars early this April, couldn't be more different but I may do a week in Vars and a week in Val in the same trip in January!

We've already put aside the money for our season tickets at Myrkdalen here in Norway, the season only closed 2 weeks ago and I'm missing it already!!

On the plus side managed to get some new skis and boots and a very, very good price yesterday in the local sports shop.

My wife, son and I fly to Geneva and then drive up to les Saisies on Boxing Afternoon. At 1650m, it's a bit of a risk but, due to its location, it has a better than average snow record. We've not skied New Year week before so it'll be lovely to actually use those dead days between Christmas and New Year productively thumbup

Booked 2016 accomodation when we got back from Whistler in April - flights booked 2 weeeks ago - Back to Banff in March for 12 days. Been going since 1997 (Honeymoon in January before we got married in the June ... argue Only missed 3 years (housemove/baby ) with 3 detours to Whistler in between.

Apart from the odd cheeky weekend in Europe - or a cheeky 3rd week pre children ...... we've given Europe a miss for that period - however that may all be changing ..... After reading the thread in Homes/DIY re Gruffy's apartment refurb in Argentiere/Chamonix valley- now started saving the pennies to buy a place in Europe myself. Better return than an investment flat in/around London + cheaper, and benefit of getting to use it yourself !!

Or fly via Denver and have a couple of days in Breckenridge on the way. I can recommend a great little B&B there that's in the centre of town and doesn't cost the earth...

I'm off to Chamonix for the first time in January (and only my second skiing trip after Whistler earlier this year). Anyone have any tips?

Brilliant place to ski, I was there last Feb and we had Japan like dumps of snow it was unreal. Some of the best off piste skiing I’ve done.

If you’re exploring be wary of lift closures-either time of weather bound. If you end up stuck in Alagna for any reason I think it’s about 4 hours by road to get back to Gressoney.

Nah, there’s far more exotic places to go skiing and far better resorts in Europe for me to personally consider it.

4 weeks in Les Gets for me this year. It helps owning a chalet!
We will probably travel around a bit as there are some great hidden gems of resorts nearby.

Which have you tried? We really enjoyed the Roc D'Enfer resorts (SJD + Bellevaux) when the snow is good. Plus Praz de Lys / Sommand is fun and family friendly.

Praz de Lys/Sommand is great to escape the crowds, Haven't done the Roc D'Enfer but is on the list.
We have mainly done the bigger ones around, Flaine, Megeve, Chamonix, etc. But this year as no ski school commitments for the littl'un we are more free to explore.
The free passes to other resorts that come with the Seasons pass are great!
