Anyone renewed recently?

Need to renew my passport prior to travel in August. Only fly in the ointment is that I need to get Russian and Chinese visas. From what I understand they are fairly quick but do cut available time down...

Would rather not shell out the £115 for a jumbo passport on fast track unless I have to!

TIA

We've just done one, did it ourselves rather than using the PO, sent it recorded, received a text within 24 hours to say it had been received, a further text within a week to say the new passport was being sent out. It hasn't shown up yet but I imagine it will do imminently.

Same using the online service to fill out the forms & pay. The just print out the declaration, sign it and return with 2 photos + your old passport.

Renewed mine online and got a brand new one for my son.
Took about a month I believe. Didn't fast track but did pay for secure document return.

As an aside, for my son's they ask for "Birth Certificate", so this is what I sent.
What they actually need is the other forms you get (multiple copies of if you want) which contains more information than the birth certificate.

Renewed by daughter's a couple of weeks ago; used the online system and sent via special delivery. It took a week from posting to getting it back.

Took the missus to be 2 weeks to get hers sorted last week. Including a name change.

Incidentally, I've had a Chinese business visa sorted in 48 hours before. And I didn't have to go in person. Expensive and stressful getting your passport back the day of your flight though!

Mine was the same - less than a week with the online payment service. Amazed me.

Fingers crossed. Sent it off on Friday complete with hilariously haggard updated photos so we'll see.

In March, overseas application to UK Passport Office, 2 weeks from sending to delivery
The later it's left to peak holiday season, the longer it will take
