So me and Mrs are off to Coral Bay in August for 2 weeks. Rented a very nice villa with pool and have been there a few times before over the years but wondered if there was anything to do that we missed.

Both rapidly approaching 50 so not in to banana boat or crazy type stuff.

Maybe she doesn't like it! I don't, does that make me a big girls blouse, some people are not happy with heights.

Mrs. DG3 loves cable cars, bungee jumping, and jumping out of Aeroplanes, does she make me do it, no!
I like driving fast, she hates it, do I drive fast when she is in the car, no!

Bit of a trek, but Nicosia is a different day out.

My folks live in Episkopi now, but we first had a place in Limassol in the mid 80's, and Nicosia was a bit different back then, but it's all open now and you can wander through to the Turkish side.

Still plenty of bullet holes in walls, and if Woolworths is still there, some great views from the top.

Laatchi is very nice, maybe hire a boat and head out to the blue lagoon, anchor up and have a picnic and a dip.

Some amazing tavernas away from the tourist areas, may look a bit rustic, but don't be shy, they are cheap, and food tends to be plentiful. Try a meze.

Make sure you try a halloumi and lounza pitta, washed down with a Keo.

Slip across the border and visit famagusta.

Really weird, youcan go on the beach and behind are all the crumbling hotels allegedly untouched since 1974.

You have to pay about £10 on the border to upgrade insurance.

Nissi beach is awesome but next on up even better, can't remember the name but next on left after from Ayia Nappa.

Troodos already stated, go in summer and you can see the ski lifts and yet its 40 degrees C, very surreal.

Aphrodites rock, sea can be a bit harsh though.

Do not go to Limassol, not a single Cypriat or Brit there. Totally infested with Russians and poor Indian workers.

The whole island has a lot of Russians, and yes, plenty of Sri Lankan workers.

If you do visit the 'other side' of the island don't do what I did and take advantage of the cheap smokes, the border police will confiscate them when you come back through...

Take a visit to the North, it's lovely there (however I am biased, my dad has a villa near Kyrenia so I go there at least twice a year)

AFAIK you can take guided tours from the South to the North, and you'll be able to experiment some interesting heratige and see. How different it is to the South. You'll also notice how cheap it is! Seeing as it's current is the Turkish Lira, eating and going out are a lot cheaper than the South under the Euro.

It's like a second home for me really, people are lovely and friendly too (except the Russian tourists, everyone hates them)

Go to Ficardo restaurant in Kato Paphos.

Just got back from 10 days in Limnaria Gardens and that was the best meal I have had in a long time - it looks dubious from the approach (next door to an Irish pub) but it was heavenly.

The Turkish side of Nicosia is well worth a look if you head there, far more interesting than the other side. There is a lovely old Mosque you can visit, in an old church.
