Hi, I could really use some help to find a suitable stop off on the way back from Collioure in South West France this August.

I've stopped doing the epic and probably dangerous 'get home in one go' journey and have decided to stop somewhere after a solid day's drive that is only a couple of hours from Calais. I've been thinking of Rouen but open to other suggestions.

Anyone got a good recommendation? I need a family room, close to restaurants and with parking.

Thanks in advance

I can recommend an excellent place one hour from Calais (Junction 6 A26) if any use?

I've often stopped @ Montreuil sur Mer, about 45 mins from Calais.

Plenty of hotels to choose from.
Les Hauts de Montreuil have family rooms in an annex across the courtyard. A bit basic but clean, convenient, and not expensive.

Nice town square, with a bit of atmosphere, plenty of restaurants to serve all pockets. Encircled by the old town walls, ideal to stretch you're legs.

Amiens? Nice bunch of restaurants along the riverside and a good value serviced aparthotel nearby.

Abbeville is a bit closer than Rouen.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have a look and see what there is, hotel wise.

I'm not too worried about being closer to Calais, it's more the run from Collioure to wherever I stay. Collioure is near the Spanish border and c.600 miles to Rouen. This feels like a decent run in a day although Amiens and Abbeville are 'only' another 40-60 miles. I don't want to get somewhere too late to at least enjoy a meal
