Hi all,
Looking for a beach relaxation holiday in September time, possibly October.
Was thinking Borneo - but understand the weather might be changeable, but I do understand it'll be better than Thailand.

We have flights to KL booked, but can go anywhere from there (within reason). We've looked at the Shangri-La at Rasa Ria which looks about right, but any other recommendations on other locations? Was thinking Malaysia/Indonesia area and looking for a nice beach, luxury hotel with things to do near by i.e. snorkelling.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Maldives? It's low season, you can get a bit of bad weather, but we've been a couple of times at that time of year and it's just been the odd torrential downpour and then sunshine again. And tropical storms are fun.

I have seen a reasonable priced trip to Sri Lanka in September. Not been, though - but it looks nice. smile

We're heading to KL on the 31st August.

Looking like Langkawi is winning at the moment...

Cheers for the replies, we were thinking about Maldives and Langkawi too, but as I'm using BA miles I cant get availability everywhere...
KL and Hong Kong have availability and I've got my companion voucher to use too.

I was originally set on Langkawi but since talking to friends, they've told me it's a "party" island and we're going away to chill out more than anything as we've had a rather busy year so far.

Anyone been to Borneo (KK in particular). It's a huge country so struggling to decide what to do!

I went to langkawi and definitely wouldn't call it a party island. I stayed in the Tanjung Rhu

Interesting...glad to know that though - we'll probably return.

For anyone that's interested, we ended up booking flights to Hong Kong, a couple of days there before flying to Borneo for 10 nights at the Rasa Ria. Flying back to Kuala Lumpur before heading home to London.

Looking forward to flying on the A380, will report back on what it's like!

Have been to KK and Langkawi. The Amdaman on Langkawi and the Datai are quite simply world class hotels and so luxurious. KK has a stunning Shangri-La resort which is very relaxing. I sank a jet ski there many moons ago.....dont ask.

Goa. I've been at the end of September & only saw a little bit of rain & the temperatures weren't too much. Because it's early in the season there are hardly any tourists either. Flights aren't as long as they are to the Maldives.

We're looking at both of these on Langkawi, sounds right up our street to be honest.

Don't suppose you did any diving there? (sorry for the thread hijack.)

Not at all - would be interested myself too.
We looked at both of those hotels and spoke to friends that had been there too. They mentioned that the Andaman was more family friendly, therefore the Datai was their recommendation

We've booked into the Datai for 10 days. Will report back mid September when we get back.

KK is good, the Shangri-La. go in the 'adult' section and you have your own pool with no kids. Food great and varied. Good trips and there rescue Orangutans on site - well worth a visit. Also golf if you play.

Yup, staying at the Intercontinental for a night before flying home. Will you be staying there too?

Yep, going to do a couple of days mooching around the city on the way home. Still not sure where to stay though.

Last time we stayed in a little boutique place just outside the chinatown area. Position wise it was great.

We're only going IC due to millions of hotel points, but reading the reviews it looks like a nice place too.
Right beside the Petronas towers and good transport links. I have a friend who lives there who suggested here too:
