In two weeks time family Blib will be in Palm Springs. We're meeting an old friend who is to celebrate his 50th birthday while we're with him. We would like to take him out one evening to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant that would fit the bill? We are not gourmands, so we are not particularly interested in Michelin stars. However, the restaurant has to be a special one, the food must be good and the location must be even better still.

We'd ideally like a place with a terrace and spectacular views. I'm sure you understand what I'm getting at. Something truly memorable. I'm not too bothered about cost.

Thank you.

You won't want to be out on a terrace in Palm Springs in July.

Can't help with a restaurant as I'm more of diner/small restaurant type person but I'm sure you'd be able to get a recommendation for somewhere with mountain views.

I'm more of an Elmer's kind of guy, but the owner of our motel kept telling us Spencer's was the place to go. We never got there so can't really comment further.

Sorry, that wasn't a lot of help was it?!

As per earlier post. Outside in Palm Springs late June is a no no. Very hot and almost certainly quite windy it can be a bit like opening an oven door and maybe getting sand blasted at the same time. Would recommend a nice steakhouse in the aircon. LG`s and Flemings are good but only a chain. Couple of nice Italians around but nothing that I would call really special.

I had a really nice lunch at Maracas Mexican Restaurant on South Palm Canyon Drive.
Late May and I managed to sit outside in a nice shady corner.

A bit different but I enjoyed this place

In particular if you can book the 'secret' room it would be a great fun evening
