Sharm - would you?

When you say security. Do you mean two unfit smoking blokes leaning back on chairs with the AK47s resting on the floor? This is pretty much what I've seen at the hotels and on one occasdion we went one month after a bomb went off at a hotel and that was literally 500m down the road from us.
I've been to Egypt 10 times, I recon there would be overweight drunk retired met coppers on the beach who were more ready for action than some of the local armed police I see in Sharm.
Anyways. I would go tomorrow if I could.
When you say unfit blokes , perhaps a look round Gatwick or Heathrow and to fatsos waddling around with their Heckler & Koch guns comes to mind I've been to Egypt 10 times, I recon there would be overweight drunk retired met coppers on the beach who were more ready for action than some of the local armed police I see in Sharm.

Just wondering, of those of you who said 'Yeah, I'd still go', whether you have changed your opinion now, following the Sinai plane crash/bomb?
i haven't changed my mind - wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. All the holidaymakers on the news who are disgusted at their blocked opportunity to get blown to smithereens in the sky due to flights being grounded need to wind their fking neck in. They have chosen to take a holiday in a dangerous part of the world because it is cheap and hot. twing said:
I did go in September and it was still the same, got on well with the locals, food, etc. It was the British that that let it down and I won't be going again. Nothing to do with the planes going down though.
might be a good bet in about a year when all the english and russians have finally taken the decision to go elsewhere! Empty infinity pools, infinite food, infinite sun loungers... i mean it's all on fire and in ruins but lets not quibble.Blown2CV said:
