Lovely road. Used to drive it every weekend down to Predannick when I was a staff cadet at the gliding school. Drove my dad along there in an E type once, felt pretty special!

When a young lad at Culdrose in the mid 70's, got my first bike and bombed all around those lanes...

Yup there was, almost got caught in it but then hit 'avoid' on the Tom Tom and enjoyed 30 mins of B-Road twisties to get around it smile

In Cornwall on hols at the moment, been to Padstow today, weather very nice, place packed (as usual).

The traffic hold up just going into Bodmin yesterday wasn't too bad, held us up about 15/20 mins.

Off to the jail tomorrow...highly recommended, nice restaurant there too...two meals for the price of one after 4pm....smile

Waiting for a decent day to visit Mount St Michael and the Minack theatre...

Likewise, we're a bit washed out at the moment here in Bodmin! Looks like tomorrow will be the day for St. Michael's mount and Land's End etc. according to the weather reports.

Let us know how you get on at the jail? We have friends joining us tonight, so hopefully it clears up enough in the next hour or so for me to get the smoker going!

Just found this thread, I was in Cornwall for a few days last July on my last trip to England. I'll have a read and post some thoughts and pix later.

argh too much messing about to upload pix... We stayed 3 nights in a small hotel just outside Looe in mid July last year. Absolutely loved Polperro, found some great beaches, pubs, restaurants, B roads... weather was sensational, high 20s every day perfect for sightseeing.
We enjoyed Eden, Heligan, a couple of NT properties (I'll remember the names as soon as I post)

Nowhere was really crowded, roads were fantastic, not much traffic, I stuck mainly to B roads and lots of detours down roads the GPS called "lane" which led us to some unexpected sights.

Needed way more time there, but lots to see and a long way from home. Next time I'll hire a sports car and or a sports bike.

That's Coverack - not far from Kynance Cove

I had an old 309 SRi that was being traded in at Truscotts, had an hour to kill so had a nice enthusiastic drive on that road a few years ago. My favourite is probably Gwithian to Portreath (either early in the morning or in winter as otherwise it's too busy) or I did used to like Newquay to Chiverton when I worked in Newquay and would finish at about 1am, so clear roads.

On a Sunday morning I go Camborne-Connor-Gwithian-portreath- porthtowan-sevenmilestone then a zip along Teagle straight (hehe ) then back down through black water. Always makes the drive to work more fun!

Eldest son attended Uni at Falmouth - so three years of annual visits/holiday plus other off season jaunts. We know the A303 pretty well, but it always seemed a bit of a slog from Kent/Sussex.

But when you have time to explore;

and catch the evening light on the north coast;

there's few other places I'd rather be. Just a shame it's so damned crowded in season.

Woop going again this weekend.

Somewhere just outside of Bude, so not staying directly on the beach but not far. Gonna go to the adrenalin quarry to do cliff jumping and have a go on the blob! Should be fun.

Definitely need to do a few walks and find some quiet beaches. Budes not bad for a spot of playing in the sea but I like Polzeath better and my mates still there workin on the beach so will go see him too.

SNAP!

We did St Michael's Mount, The Minack theatre and Lands end yesterday.

What a dump Lands End is.

Full of Burger bars, shops selling tat, like a mini Alton Towers....I remember going forty years ago, there was absolutely nothing there ........as it should be.

Today:- Restormel Castle and Bodmin Jail.

On Monday we went to St Mawes castle, ad then via the King Harry Ferry...Pendennis Castle...both recommended.
