I like Falmouth, Veryan, Lizard Peninsular, Geevor... My favourite beach is Chapel Porth though, on the north coast.

I bloody love Cornwall. Been most years and love areas like Looe and Polperro cloud9.

Best time was in 1999 for the eclipse. Had pre-booked months in advance and it was absolutely packed.

Would love to go again but the main problem is that it takes about 10 hours to get there.

Visited Looe last year for the 1st time in about 5yrs, couldn't believe how low rent it had become frown

Polperro on the other hand was still lovely smile

We holidayed as a family on the north coast (Newquay and Crantock) several times a year for the first 20yrs of my life.

In those days (1972-92) Newquay was a traditional British seaside town, lovely beaches and a small mecca for surfing in the UK, absolutely wonderful. I have great memories of long summer holidays, rain or (mostly) shine, good times. I went back recently and found it had become some kind of spring-break/stag do hell on earth at night, all a bit depressing compared to how it used to be.

My ex's family live in St Mawes, a lovely part of the world albeit rather overrun with second-home townies in summer, and empty and rather desolate in winter.
Locals not born into money can't afford to live there, which is a real shame. I don't want to knock people who've worked hard and can afford a holiday home, but it's a real shame it has that knock-on effect on local families.

Can't wait to take my boy camping down that way though, so much to do outdoors.

Couple from our trip in 2013

We based ourselves in a cracking B&B in Newquay, but went all over Cornwall for 4 days, before heading to Dorset for the rest of the week.

If you have good weather, it's fantastic.
Guarantee me 25 degrees and sunshine and I'd go for a fortnight!

I live here in Cornwall and consider myself to be extremely fortunate. (I also sell some of the best traditional ice cream but I don't want to be accused of shameless self promotion) There are lots of gorgeous beaches, places to see and you don't need to pay a penny. The people are friendly and drop into Philps' in Hayle and you can get some of the best pasties there are.

Once you've had a pastie, head from Hayle to St Ives and take the B3306 for a hoon. Mind you, in peak season just after sunrise is best and I often take my M3.

There are lots of local fairs and shows coming up too.

Mr B? Just the mention of ice cream and Hayle.

Last holiday I had with my late brother two years ago cry .......

As a family we have been going here on and off for 30 years. Has its own stunning 9 hole golf course and is genuine food heaven.

Must go back, but don't think my parents could manage it yet; I do highly recommend the place.

Not my photo but it defiantly is Porthcurnick.

I can remember when the hidden hut was a beach shop and as a boy spent many hours building damns on the stream.... The Cliffhead to the right of the beach has a coastguard hut. This was one of my grans favourite places in the world. Hopefully her bench is still these.

Indeed. Cornwall is a great place to holiday, probably not a bad place to retire to. It's an ahole of a place to live and work. Most of the people I know (myself included) work away to be able to afford to live in Cornwall with a modicum of comfort.

If you're around the Hayle area, try Godrevy - it's a National Trust beach. Very pretty and you may well end up swimming with the local seal population.
