We enjoy going to Porthoustock in the winter and sitting just watching the waves come in as the sun goes down. Makes you appreciate how beautiful the area is.

Porthcurnick is lovely although be prepared for the hoards of North London hipsters who descend to eat at the ''Hidden Hut'', which is no longer hidden. Portscatho is just along the road, although it's 60% second homes and not the village it was. (my family all come from Portscatho so you may detect a hint of resentment) Be aware this is one of the very few ''dog friendly'' beaches in the Summer months. You can probably hear people tutting their disapproval in Truro!

I consider myself to be very lucky to live here and it's great that people come to enjoy all Cornwall has to offer, but there are lots of huge 4x4's being loaded up with deck chairs, wind breaks and cool boxes and driven by visitors who can't get their heads around driving country lanes and using passing places.

Perranporth is absolutely heaving this weekend.

One thing of note is just how many housing estates are going up all over Cornwall. They're not what I would call affordable either. Combined with all these road improvement schemes, there will be far less Cornwall for people to come and see soon, even if they can get here more quickly.

We're currently spending a few days in Polruan, an unspoilt, beautiful & quiet little place - heaven!

Took the ferry over to Fowey today, kids have kayaked there a few times but we've never visited it, I'm sure it's lovely out of season but we are very glad to be back in Polruan again.
Polruan is lovely. I've stayed at the Old Ferry Inn at Boddinick before. biggrin

Polkerris is also worth a visit if you can get over that way.

Just moved to Devon (as in last week) and I spent most of the weekend laughing smile

Friday was also the first time I've had 4 day Aug Bank Hol in 20 yrs and the whole damn thing was awesome. Even better that I dumped the wife at her new work in Exmouth to shadow the bloke she is replacing and I buggered off to the beach for the day smile

Topped off by a lovely evening watching the Red Arrows from the beach with the wife as they jigged and jagged at the Sidmouth air show.

I'm 3 months into a 9month contract and all the agents in Europe know not to bother calling me until at least 12 months as the last 3 months of that "year", as everyone knows the intention is that I will spend that time brewing beer as part of the semi retirement.

I have to pick myself this my real life now smile
