I stumbled across this thread-from-the-dead and enjoyed your write-up and photos, brought back memories of my own 3000+km road trip around Newfoundland in Sept 2018. Fantastic place, I really enjoyed it there so I'm bumping this thread back into view to inspire others to visit...

I flew into Deer Lake (from Toronto after a family wedding at Niagara), picked up a rental and spent a good few days around Gros Morne National Park, then across to Terra Nova and Bonavista Peninsula, down to St Johns briefly (to drop someone at the airport for an earlier flight out) then around the NE coast to Twilingate before flying back out of Deer Lake.

same for me! I did a 12000km canada road trip way back in 2002 before i had roots and life constraints. Quite emotional to see.
