I woud be interested in recent experiencees with villa holidays in Florida.

We booked this year with a well known travel company that has served us well in the past. However, this time we ended up in a vila that looks like a delapidated and dirty version of the one that was on the website that we booked from.

Judging by the queue to see the holiday company rep this appears to be a large scale problem. Several of the other holiday makers had abandoned or not accepted their villas. The holiday company were not helpful. The UK part bucking the issue to the Florida rep and the Florida rep telling everyone that the accomodation was OK.

I would be interested to know about the experiences of others as suspect that it is a large scale problem and not just a few iscolated issues. We have booked villa holidays with this company beforre, including in Florida, an d have been very happy.

Please PM if there are concerns about the name and shame issues.

Having just sold my house in Florida after owning for over ten years this does not surprise me. Holiday companies tend to pay very poor rental rates to the owners and they are then not able to keep them up to standard. You are far better renting privately direct to an owner. It cuts out the middle man and you then have redress to the owner direct if there is a problem. I would think the direct rates are pretty comparable and I think you are much more likely to get what you are paying for i.e. a good clean home that is well looked after. Anyone renting through a travel agent cannot be bothered to do it themselves (and trust me it is hard work) so what do you expect from the villa/house if the owner cannot be bothered.
just my two pennyworth.
