Best way to book last min for sunshine 1st week of Oct?
Discussion
Last Monday of Sep we want to go away for a week somewhere hot with a beach. Budget is £500-800 each. Just want sun, sea and not much else.
Where should we go thats still hot then? Europe is ideal. And how do you book last min? Is it best to literally wait till a few days before? or later??? Or is it just as good a deal to sort out a couple of weeks prior??

Depends what you want. Last minute flights alone tend to cost more, not less.
Personally, I go to one of the Canaries and book a flight and an apartment separately.
My current flight to Fuerteventura with Thomas Cook from 7 -14 October cost me £221 return. Thomson fly to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria at similar prices but your choice is probably going to be limited by finding a flight on the day of your choosing though most will be a weekend or midweek flight.
Last couple of years, temperatures have 25-33
The 3 bed apartment in Caleta de Fuste (via a site like Holiday Lettings or owners direct,)in spitting distance of the beach, cost me £260 for the week.
At those prices, you can either get a taxi or hire a car (usually around £100 for the week).
Again, at those prices, I tend to eat out once a day and stock up on a few things - beer and snacks - from the local supermarket. rather than pack it, I also buy their economy toiletries which are cheap enough.
Ancillary costs? Travel insurance for about a tenner and airport parking for about £50.

dubai? but what about cost of staying there? food? etc - is it not a bit pricey? dont want to get a £700 deal then need to drop same again on eating out!
I thought your (max) £800 per person was for flights and accommodation as food and drink are so very personal. The BA site is showing some 'packages' for £650 for a week - albeit accommodation only but there are some B&B options. Perhaps doing independent flights and accommodation might free up some cash. For example - Emirates is doing return flights for £359 from Gatwick just now. BA are £340 from Heathrow. That would leave a reasonable bit of cash for hotel and food. If you stay away from the big 5 star resorts you can find hotels on some of the on-line consolidators for less than £300 for the week.
Happy searching
Plenty of options here for under £500 each from the London area on the last Monday in Sept (this was the first site that popped up so not even done any searching):

Picked Tenerife as its a place I now well and to eat and drink well you'll only spend about £75-100 per day for the 2 of you (unless you pick lavish eateries or cocktails), obviously shopping items are extra. I would book as soon as you can as flights go and availability reduces which tends to push up prices.
