Can anyone recommend a decent hotel for a boys trip to Madrid in Dec please?

Ideally a good quality boutique style hotel but open to a more traditional style if it's really good (looked at the Westin, but the rooms look very dated).

The 2 that catch up eye are:

or

If anyone has direct experience of them or any other recommendations

Also where to eat? It's for a significant birthday for one of the chaps, so somewhere decent, La Terraza del Casino looks tempting:-

Thanks, the only thing that puts me off that statement is about the beautiful people, which makes it sound pretentious, which we are not.

That said, I've just had a quick google and the food looks right up our street

We stayed at Hotel Indigo on Gran Via in March and loved it. Very boutique, central location and friendly staff. Our room was kind of internal, in that the window opened into an airshaft but that made the room very quite with no street noise, so suited us fine.

The world's oldest restaurant, Botin, is in Madrid and worth a visit for bragging rights, but it is kind of expensive for what it is.

We had a great time (and good home cooking) in the James Joyce Irish bar near Plaza De La Cibiles

Did you stay there? If so would be good to get your thoughts as seems a bit far out and style over substance. What do you reckon?

Sorry, didn't stay there. I was out there for a conference so was a good bit out of the centre myself. Taxis are cheap though..
