Glad it wasn't just me itching to say that! hehe

In 3 weeks time I'll be sat in Orlando. Cannot wait.
Here's hoping the weather perks-up a bit for you - This summer has been crazy wet/grey. Things usually improve precipitation-wise from Sept onwards but still overcast and stormy today. At least the rain is warm...

Don't go in the kids holidays or during the hottest summer months.

I did both of the above and had a miserable time with my kids, too busy, too hot and frankly a waste of money.

Cheers Matt.

We normally aim for December/January, April/early May or October. We are used to the odd shower or thunderstorm but we are hoping for some clear blue skies and warm weather too. Fingers crossed we get it...

A few years back I went to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Fort Lauderdale and I'm pretty sure it was January time. Anyway, we arrived and it was colder there than it was back home. I didn't have much in the way of winter clothes and I certainly wasn't expecting the snow we had either! I saw on a few news reports that Iguanas were freezing solid, falling out of trees and shattering when they hit the ground. That said, it made the morning drive a lot more fun in the Camaro SS so I couldn't complain too much. driving

Wow - last recorded snowfall anywhere south of Frostproof FL was January 19th 1977. I've lived in central Florida since Oct 2001 and it has never snowed anywhere other than around the GA AL state lines. Got below freezing a couple of times, but no snow. When was this?

It was January 2010. It was bitterly cold and as mentioned before, I had no winter clothing on me at all.

We popped to a local bar and it was rammed because quite a few of the residents didn't have heating and they wanted to be somewhere warm. One chap told us that his dog's water bowl had frozen solid in his house. I know it can sometimes get nippy around Christmas time when the sun dissapears but it was bitterly cold all day long. One of the local news reports in Fort Lauderdale had an interview with some locals doing some fishing asking them how it was affecting them and they laughed and said it was like shooting fish in a barrel. One then leant over the side of a boat and just grabbed a fish by it's tail and yanked it out. They than panned around the water and loads of fish were bobbing up and down in what I presume was shock.

It wasn't particularly heavy snow but it was a very light dusting. We moved on from Fort Lauderdale back to Orlando a few days later and every single morning without fail the grass was white due to frost. I ended up driving to the outlets and buying us a new winter wardrobe which the Mrs loved!

On advice we flew this year to Tampa and drove across (approx 90 minutes), saving almost £2000 (this was 2 adults, a 13 yr old and an 11yr old over Easter). Off season the price difference may not be as great but do check it out. Also meant we could do a couple of days 'beach holiday' (Clearwater, specifically Treasure Island) as a great de stress of the Disney madness smile

I'm planning on taking the clan over in the next couple of years but for a full on month trip.
To test the water we all went to Disneyland Paris as I wanted to see how the kids reacted (4 & 6yr old) my eldest got it 100%, she was totally immersed in the Disney magic and loved every minute of it. My 4 year old got very excited and joined in but without really understanding why, if that makes sense. I think 4 may just be a bit young, not saying he won’t enjoy it, but I doubt he'll fully appreciate the magic of Disney which lets be honest; it makes the parks what they are.
I spent 5 days at EuroDisney half board in one of their resort hotels with a 5 day pass for all 4 of us, including the tunnel crossings it was just under £1k, top tip, go midweek, short queues and less people.
