I'm planning a 3 day break in a couple of weeks and have no idea where to go, was thinking Loch Lomund or Arran. I have never been to Scotland in my adult life and since moving to Cumbria this year more accessible. Taking two kids 6&7 mother in law and wife.

Suggestions on where a novice visitor should visit and stay. Don't want the cities.

Hi Matt smile

Isle of Arran is lovely, as is Isle of Skye. Glencoe area will take your breath away. Drop me a note on seloc if you want and I'll fill you in on a bit more.

Arran is a fantastic island with tonnes to see and do

At the top end of the scale

This however is a good bit cheaper but still has pool facilities

Skye is also fantastic, but a considerable drive further. I can't really comment on what hotels to use as i have only ever camped there.

As for Loch lomand, Cameron House is awesome, but isn't cheap

This place is far more reasonable

I'd also thoroughly recommend Crieff Hydro. A nice base to discover a lovely part of the country, and the Hydro has more than enough activities to keep the family and kids entertained. Child care is also included.
