I was there for a few days last month as part of a longer trip. We stayed at Paris which is in the middle of the strip, opposite the Bellagio. Planet Hollywood is next door, any of those would be a good base.

The thing we enjoyed the most was seeing Circqu du Soleil's "Love" show.

Just back from a long weekend!!!! 3 nights most certainly wasn't enough so i'm sure we will go back but a last minute birthday treat for me/wifey both being 40 meant the kids were with nanny so didnt want to push it...

Stayed at the Trump international away from the main strip but close enough to still enjoy. wasnt sure what a main strip would be like so opted for this, next time we will most likely do a strip hotel as we spent most of our time there.

$20 trick worked for us biggrin upgraded to a one bedroom suite with strip view on lvl 39. The Room was HUGE with 3 showers, jacuzzi bath, twin sinks and a kitchen that didn't look like it had ever been used.

As we were only staying for 3 nights i decided a mustang Convertible was needed, this was upgraded on collection to a new Camaro Convertible but sadly only a V6. Still great fun tho if a VERY small boot. Had to put a case on the back seat to/from the airport.

Breakfast @ Peppermills was awesome (thanks for the recommendation further up the thread).

Wifey's birthday was on Sunday and she does enjoy a nice itallian meal so Maggianos was close and VERY nice too.

We also did Fremont and had dinner in Hugo's Cellar, while looking at the menu you think this is expensive, we found that just having a main course was more than enough as you get a starter salad, sorbet pallet cleanser, main course then choc covered strawberrys to finish, then asked if we wanted a desert menu...... no thanks im stuffed eek
The waiter then asked why we were in Vegas so we mentioned wifeys birthday within minutes we had a desert with candle on the table FOC.... now we were really stuffed.

Did various casinos over the few days nothing over the top for us with a limit of $200 per visit we walked away around $500 up. Also did a trip to the premium outlet for some shopping, bellagio fountains, Mirage volcano to name a few, in all a very busy few days with little sleep, but hey Vegas doesn't sleep so why would we biggrin

Thin i need a few days to recover now tho.

Just a reply to AB really. The Zoo at San Diego is way over hyped. Plenty of walking up and down what they call canyons with hardly any animals on display. I was really disappointed with it, certainly not worth the drive from Vegas. There are plenty of better/more interesting places to visit.

Kevin
Thanks Kevin, unfortunately I'll never change her mind. She works for a number of UK wildlife parks and zoos and you'd be surprised just how may of then use SD Zoo as a role model, hence she really wants to visit.

Sorry for the hijack
Theres numerous Vegas threads on search and this one has as good info as any other smile

We're off to Vegas next July

Planning on just over a week with a view to doing the Grand Canyon +/- whatever else for 2-3 days then 4-5 days in Vegas itself

Questions:

a) Which companies if any are likely to be the best on price with flights + hotel for this kind of holiday?
b) Where to stay at the Grand Canyon?
c) Wynn is the most likely hotel due to friends preferences - hot tips on blagging deals here (eg breakfast and spa) especially welcome

Cheers!
If you're doing flight + hotel it will be a package and no promo codes will help.

Priced up separately try checking out www.smartervegas.com for promo codes (hello I'm Dr Numtumfutunch here for the cardiology conference...!)

Seaworld is definitely not on the agenda.
