Hi, I am flying in to Berlin on Tuesday (Tegel airport), does anyone know the best way to get to Alexanderplatz, ie is there a direct bus service, or how much do taxis usually cost (time will be 12 noon).

Many thanks for any help.

Use the airport bus service. Very easy and cheap!
Public transport road:

Bus:The Jet Express Bus TXL (tel: +49 30 19449; www.bvg.de) connects Berlin-Tegel Airport with Alexanderplatz, running via Unter den Linden and Central Station (journey time: 30-40 minutes; fare €2.10). Buses 128, 109 and X9 run to various local destinations for connections to the city's U-Bahn subway transport system and the overland S-Bahn trains. Further bus information is available from the BVG office in the main Boulevard Tegel hall

Hi quick question, I have bought a travel ticket today but have not yet validated it as it is for use tomorrow on the bus (early morning). There is no ticket validating machine at the bus stop, can I do this once on the bus (is there usually one on board?).

There should be one on the bus but there's usually one somewhere near the stop (not always too obvious).

Thanks there was a machine on the bus. As it happens you can buy tickets from the driver too, not just the ticket machines.

From what I recall we got the train direct from Schönefeld to Alexanderplatz it only took about 20 minutes. I'm not sure Tegel is quite so easy, you have to change at Friedrichstraße.

A change of train at Friedrichstraße shouldn't be problem, and it's only two stops to Alexanderplatz from there.

Also, taxis seem relatively cheap compared to London prices - Schonefeld to the city centre would be about 40 euros, and I don't see Tegel to Alexanderplatz being as much as that.

Yep, this. It's the easiest way. The bus is always more issue prone wherever you go as it's never quite as clear which ones go where and which it is waiting in front of you etc.

If you can read a map then nothing wrong with the bus. Direct bus from Tegal to Alexanderplatz. Starts at one place and terminates at the other so you cant really go wrong.
