Things to do in York
Discussion
The National Railway Museum is a must.
There's the minster of course, but if you want to go and have a look inside I would time it for when a service is on so you can get in for free. Mum and I was going to go and have a look around last year but it was about £10 each to get in - sod that.

I'm guessing that, like me, you're not religious. However I have respect for other peoples' faiths and would not consider interrupting any religious service for the sake of saving a few quid and then shuffling around in the background whilst people are at prayer.
What sort of thing are you looking for?
When are you visiting?
Plenty of pubs in York to keep you entertained

The Micklegate run is crap these days, in fact most of the town centre is crap thanks to the swarms of Geordie stag and hen dos. Check out Trembling Madness before it shuts down.
The above advice is very good, the House of Trembling Madness is very good. It is however very small and operates a one-ine, one-out policy when busy.Pivni is similar and has lot more space, set in a three story old house its very characterful. The three York Brewry Pubs are all worth a try (Yorkshire Terrier, Last Drop In and The Three Legged Mare). Their Guzzler is a very nice pint.
Walmgate is the trendy place to be these days.
Personally, I prefer Goodramgate. I'm usually sozzled by mucky Duck.
Black Horse
Keystones
Royal Oak
Golden Slipper
Vahe
Cross Keys
Snickleways
Habit
Old White Swan
Pivni
Golden Lion
All within a 5 min walk.
Of course if that isn't enough you are then in Swinegate area where there is plenty of choice for food and drink.

Ancient English law can turn your day into an event.
If you can find a Scotsman carrying a bow and arrow within the ancient city walls, it is permissible to murder him.
So keep your eyes peeled....
I only ever carry knives and semi-automatics when I venture into York.If you can find a Scotsman carrying a bow and arrow within the ancient city walls, it is permissible to murder him.
