No option given to put it into hold baggage (as flight was about to close) or store it for me to collect. Just "sorry, sir no tools allowed in hand luggage".

£50 quids-worth of torque driver in the bin. Didn't even have a bit in it.

Airport security.... it's a joy

I spend a few days every month in Ireland. Times money, and I can't afford to mess about replacing tape measures willy nilly so they have to go in hand luggage. Other heavier stuff travels in the case.

One of the tape measures is a laser device. Does not ever seem to bother them. The 30m tape is a mine sized circle. Only caused alarm once in Germany. I knew what his issue was and we had a laugh when he saw what it was.

Security of course in the UK is a giant pain. I know what I pack in my hand baggage - and invariably it's the same every time. It does not stop my home airport that is very quiet getting bored and decide that their scanner can't read my bad because it's too full.... Every other scanner seems to manage just fine.
