I have a couple of days in Vegas next year whilst on my honeymoon and I'd like to have a couple of things lined up.

I'd like to take a helicopter into the Grand Canyon, possibly for breakfast - any recommendations on company to go with?

Also a show would be cool - any suggestions?

Obviously I'll take enough cash to make playing in the casinos worthwhile.

And obviously visit the Pawn Stars shop hehe

Any futher suggestions/recommendations please?

Indeed. As our friend has demonstrated, cold drinks are easily obtained.

One thing to mention from the OP's list, the helicopter trips only go to the west rim of the GC, the 'proper'/best part is the South Rim which is much further out.

The good (and bad) thing about Vegas is that there really aren't any Hidden Gems, it is all in plain view, with at most a 5 minute walk from civilisation to 'out of the way' spots like the Container Park, or Ellis Island, or Fremont East and the new Restaurant Row Downtown.

It seems that some helicopter trips will go into the canyon down to the Colorado. When you say the South is the proper/best part what do you mean if you don't mind me asking?

All the pictures you've seen on tv or in books of the Grand Canyon, they're from around the South Rim which is the deepest/widest section.

The West Rim is narrower and shallower, but is within helicopter range of Vegas.

You can fly out to the South Rim area in a small plane, but the National Park don't allow tourist flights into their part of the canyon.

I've done trips to bo The helicopter trip is well worth it (unless you are a regular helicopter passenger) but the South Rim scenery is much better.

Very interesting, thank you. I travel by helicopter 2 or 3 times a year and always enjoy it smile

Perhaps I'm best to just jump in the car and go to the South rim as we move on instead?

Or maybe both wink

This. Did the sunset tour and landed in the canyon for champagne (read sparkling wine) and picnic. Highly recommend Papillon for it.

Other bits:

We stayed in the Wynn, so made sense to se Le Reve (Cirque du soleil). You won't be disappointed.

Heading 'up' the strip to the Stratosphere (which is worth a look even if it's pricey to go up - do so at night), there's a great Gun place on the right http://stripgunclub.com/ - great guys and a huge selection of guns (I opted for an MP4, AK47, Desert Eagle and a Barrat .50 cal wink

Les Vegas Speedway worth a visit if you have time to do come car stuff. I did the Richard Petty Rookie Experience (drive a Nascar), which I would say is expensive for what it is and they really rein you in on the throttle (or maybe that was just my driving hehe )

Went up to Gold and Silver (Pawn Stars) but couldn't be bothered with the queue.

Loads to see and do. Ran out of time, but will be back!

Counts Kustoms is just off the strip too. Didn't get time, but worth a visit apparently.

$20 trick when checking in to your hotel. (Google, and execute as a friendly Brit, chatting with the check in assistant.)

Fatburger for a late night / early morning feed before bed.

Just have a walk and soak in the atmosphere, ideally in the evening when it is (a little) cooler.

To be fair - the $20 really depends on where you stay and what room you have booked.

And when too, if you're there when it's pretty full with a massive convention, you'll struggle too.

But it's worth a try, worked both times for me.

We did 4 nights in Vegas as part of our honeymoon in 2012. Did the sunrise Canyon trip with Sundance Helicopters, very professional, would definitely recommend.

For something a little more quirky than the usual Vegas stuff, The Neon Museum is a great throwback to a golden age.

http://www.neonmuseum.org/book-a-tour

We also had a great time seeing The XX play outdoors at the Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan. Well, great until the heavens opened, torrential downpour, uncovered stage, band had to do an apologetic runner after four songs as they were at risk of electrocution!

The usual place that gets recommended (and rightly so, as its bloody amazing) is the peppermill for breakfast/brunch.

I also liked Hash House a go go (there's a 24hr one in the Linq, and another that's only open normal hours in the Rio)

If you like mexican food (and the best Margarita's I've ever had) then go to Hussongs mexican cantina in the shoppes at mandalay bay - bonus if you go on a fri/sat evening they have a mariachi band, on your way out you go past the minus5 ice bar, which is a little bit expensive but it is very cool (pun mildly intended) to be sat in a room made of ice, whilst in the middle of a desert!

For daft amounts of really good italian food go to Carmines inside the forum shops next to ceasers palace.

If you're going to do any driving experiences out there, ignore the richard petty nascar thing (I've done the nascar and the muscle car experience and was underwhelmed with both) but check out this place: http://www.vore.com/home - I did the 10 laps of the short course and it was the best morning of my life!

If you're hiring a car, try and get along to the Cars&Coffee meet on a Saturday morning - http://lasvegas.carsandcoffee.info/

We stopped in Vegas last year as part of our honeymoon and we'd hired a bright orange Challenger R/T. We went along and parked up with the rest of the Challengers and had a good wander round the rest of the cars. Everyone was very friendly and happy to stop and chat (and show us around their cars).

Was pretty impressive to see some of the 'fast' cars leaving the car park hehe
