Norway road trip - hire options?
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I suspect I know the answer to this one already. Are there any alternatives to the usual suspects for two one-way hires in Norway (one Stavanger-Bergen, one Trondheim-Narvik). I was hoping for something a bit more inspiring than a Volvo estate...
Thanks for any suggestions.

I struggled to find a nice car in Norway a few years ago. I managed a 3 series estate in the end. I was in the main Avis in Oslo and they had a Megane convertible in the showroom, and when I asked if I could hire that or something like it they said oh it's not ours, we just use it to tempt people in
Problem is the cost of the car makes anything with a big engine or weight just impossible to rent out at a price most are willing to pay. For example a 2 litre 1999 Mercedes SLK costs around £8000 second hand.
However what is the reason for doing those two legs? You're actually missing out the best parts and doing the (generally) most boring parts of driving in Norway! Driving between Bergen and Trondheim is the best area for driving in Norway - both in terms of driving roads and the views. The Lofoten area is also amazing for views, but the roads are not nearly as fun as they follow the coast and have no mountain passes.
