I've got a free Emirates 1st Class ticket to anywhere in the world. It's a real one, not one of those wky free Facebook things.

I've done Dubai a few times and want to make the most of the 1st class experience. I have about 7-10 days tops (inc travel).

Can be beach/city/wherever.

I had considered Hong Kong/Singapore/South Africa (been before, missus not too keen on safari though) or perhaps Sydney.

so, where would you go?

They'd all be via Dubai

Should have said, probably Sep or Oct I'd be going.

Erm I don't think any of the destinations you listed are convenient via Dubai!!

I'd be tempted to make the most of it and go to Aus/NZ, because if you ever decide to go there and can only afford cattle then the flight won't be a nice experience.

Going to Asia I'd rather go direct than change in Dubai, even if it is first class.

If going east (from Dublin to Dubai), I'd prefer to not then go west e.g. South America

Would Australia or NZ not be a long way to go for only a few days?

Ticket wise, I did some work for them and got it as an incentive for finishing quickly!

Due to circumstances we went to Australia last year for 6 days!! Yes it is a long way to fly for that kind of time however, slept on/stayed awake on the plane (cattle class mind) out there and landed in the morning stayed up through and we were fine while there. It was the return that messed us up but the jet lag passed in a couple of days.

While it wasn't much time in country we treated it like any other holiday (other than the day we were at a wedding) and just filled the time, we were based in Melbourne but took a day return flight to Sydney spent a whole day touristing up the place, Bondai Beech, the hardbour, ferry etc. When in Melbourne we had a car and just went everywhere we could and saw what we could. If you are an F1 fan the Pits are a permanent structure and you can go around and have a look about, stand on the podium, take pics on the start finish line etc which is cool!

Perth is only 10 hours or so from Dubai. I've never been mind, so I don't know what it's like, but for a few days it's not so far.

How adventurous do you feel?!

I'd love to give Bangkok, Mumbai or Delhi a go! Or, if you haven't been, go to Kuala Lumpur for a few days and then have a week somewhere like Langkawi. Lovely!

Personally I'd do Japan or Korea from that list and for that length of trip.

I would go to Melbourne, compact, vibrant, great sport and some great trips to do within a day of the city!

Agreed, we did Cathay, Business Class to Melbourne for 10 days.

Melbounre is a great city - amazing streets.

If the plane has a stand up bar at the back (A380) - great way to travel.

Served Don as the normal champagne had run out!

Slept and drunk relative to the destination ;-)

Edit : For me - despite the travel - Hawaii - somewhere I doubt I will go - but would love to!!!

I'd do a short trip to Oz. Given you're flying in F it probably makes most sense.

Thanks all.

Oz or NZ certainly helps get me "bang for buck" in terms of miles flown, I just wasn't sure if a few days in one city there was enough given jet lag etc. We will do Oz "properly" in a couple of years.

Another consideration is type of plane. I really want to fly F on an A380, in particular looking forward to my shower with Jennifer Aniston....

+1. The longest journey by far. I did the very same trip with Emirates last year (in business class rather than 1st I'd add!). Cracking airline and I imagine the 1st class section is proper comfortable with actual flat beds rather than the slightly flat beds in the 777's. If you have free return flights why not fly as far as you can. South Island New Zealand is a great call! Plenty of dreamy roads for petrolheads too!

Edited to confirm that I went to CHCH for only 5 days. Jet lag was pretty awful on the way back but that is to be expected. You may not suffer if you plan to sleep during the flight home at the appropriate times for UK.

Is this just a straight return ticket (with a connection in DXB obviously) or are stop overs and open jaws permitted?

Can do open jaw. Was looking at a round the world Dub-Dubai-Syd-San Fran-NYC-Dub (via their Milan flight). Slightly longer than 7 days though...
