I have travelled from London to Doha quite a few times for work.

Recently I have always taken the all-business A319.

I am going to go for a change this time and can do Dreamliner or A380. Will be business class whichever is take.

Have you experienced both? Which would you choose?

(Will be Qatar airways whichever is choose, I use them for all my Middle East flights.

Please let me know if you have experience of both on another airline too.

Not yet had experience of Qatar Airways but am flying to Doha with them on Monday on a 787 also in business class so can let you know then.

I have flown on the Emirates A380 many times and a 787 with both BA and United.

I enjoyed the 787 more - smaller, felt less dehydrated and less tired and thought it was quieter.
But Emirates was more comfortable, better service and entertainment with bar upstairs at the back, and the whole experience of the A380 is great.

Some info here bedders.

Looks like both have the same 1/2/1 configuration so presumably there is more room in the a380?

the higher cabin pressure should make the 787 a better place to be, and leave you feeling better after the flight

Qatar A380 and B787 are both the same seats. I much prefer the A380, upstairs is incredibly quiet. Highly recommended.

Business may be ok but the Economy seats are horrendous - read the comments on this page:

Totally agree with this. The air quality inside a 787 makes a long journey far more comfortable.

Same cabin air pressure on the A380 too and the A350.

I've only been on a Dreamliner once, Munich to Toronto, with Air Canada in business class.
I can't say I noticed the air quality was any better or different.

QA Business is OK. Nothing to write home about. BA Business is better, IMO. A380 is a fine aircraft though. Very quiet.

Commiserations on having to got to Qatar.

Cheers m'dears.

Actually looks like I'm going to be able to do one leg on each, looking at schedules. I'll let you know my thoughts afterwards.

PT, yes, comes with the territory I'm afraid. I'll be in Dubai for a few days too so not all bad (not that I'm much of a fan of Dubai either!). Anyway, I'll get a bit of winter sun which always feels nice, even if most of it is walking around the DIFC.

Well I'm in AD if you're at a very loose end. Always up for a refreshment or seven.

The A380 is the way to go, the 787 isn't quite as roomy in my experience. However, I actually prefer their A350 XWB which is on routes into Germany and Singapore. Very quiet, much more room in Business Class.

To follow this up, I arrived back about an hour ago.

I have to say I noticed almost no difference between the two. I slept better on the A380 than the Dreamliner but there're ally wasn't a lot in it. Same seats/layout/space and cabin noise seems similar on both, perhaps slightly quieter on the Airbus.

If I had the choice I'd take the A380 but I wouldn't change my plans to take one over the Dreamliner.

I didn't try the bar area, I was quite happy in my seat.

....Biggest irritation was they didn't have The Big Short on movies which I had been hoping to watch.

I expect your trip is already done but I'd pick the A380 (which is saying something as I usually subscribe to the "If it's not Boeing, I'm not going" philosophy").

The A380 has a good size cocktail bar. Other Qatar aircraft don't. If you can't make it back to your seat, you can also pass out on the sofas in the bar.
