Going to head to the Lakes for my wife's birthday in March, booked L'Enclume so looking forward to that smile

Does anyone have any suggestions on some nice hikes to go on or other activities to do? Just looking for nice scenery, lakes, hills, getting away from the crowds etc.

once you've finished with the scenic stuff you can always go to the Lakeland Motor Museum (and Campbell Collection) at Pooley (used to be Pooley Bridge)thumbup

How far do you want to hike?

There's a quite nice circular 'Coffin Trail' from Grasmere.

Bear in mind the roads are really mucked up at the moment with the floods, we're not expecting the A591 to be open until May (at the earliest) which mucks things up royally as it's either mountain passes or the motorway to get from my side of the area to the other.

Really depends on if you mean a hike or a walk. The Windermere area is actually pretty pants for fell walking as it's more rolling hills than high craggy mountains. From the side of the lake you're on for a gentle ramble Orrest Head is the obvious one (~700 odd feet), up towards Ambleside you have a nice medium size fell in Wansfell Pike, and further up some higher fells, Fairfield is a good walk, and the Fairfield Horseshoe a cracking walk on on clear day.

L'Enclume is really nice though we stayed there last year, the food is something else.

yikes Forgot about that... but maybe that means less tourists right??

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into them.

No idea but probably not as if you're in that area, Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Coniston are all accessible without issue. March I'd expect it to be quiet(er) anyhow, unless it's Easter.
