...we are going to give the Run Of Fame a go as its a 65km total ski run.
Assume this includes the lifts? If not that's a good few hours skiing!

In Meribel Mottaret at the mo, Christ it's hot!!

Skii'd Val Thorens yesterday and stayed high for as long as we could - snow was surprisingly good. However towards resort level in the afternoon is a total waste of time...

It says 65km of downhill skiing so I assume that excludes the lifts? Either way it's a lot of mileage and I need to work out how to get back from Warth afterwards.

Looks like you're right. I found a website that suggested you could join the circuit at any of the resorts, with journey time being c.5 hours on reds and blacks and a whole day for average skiers. I'm in St.Anton this Saturday, I'd like to give it a go.

Anyone know how long the Portes Du Soleil circuit is?

I found a comment that says it's about 6 hours for a 'moderate' skier, but no mention of the actual distance (Actually I found another that mentions a '65km adventure')

Let me know how you get on if you do end up giving it a go. I would like to think that its signed all the way round but you never know...

There must be a bus to/from St Anton and Wrath as that would be a better place to start the run but I have yet to find it.

You may have to find a rather expensive taxi!

Looks like you may need to ski back to Lech from Wrath then get the bus back to St Anton from there.

Seems strange that they have linked up the resorts but there is no means to get from one end to the other.

Bought ski boots four weeks or so ago. Went back to the same shop yesterday to find them 40% cheaper. Big savings to be had buying now. I expect this is old news to most of you but it might be of use to some:

This was starting in Morzine and finishing in Morzine. No extras ....so effectively the shortest route...as we started a bit late (10.00) and intended to do the Swiss Wall at the end but ran out of time. We had a nice lunch + a couple of coffee stops also. We were concerned about getting back to the Morzine links mid afternoon, hence not doing the Wall. Easily doable in a day starting at 9am for any reasonable intermediate.

Sounds like they might have triggered a thin weak layer on the top, which then increased the weight on other deeper weak layers causing a large area to go, frown I wonder if part of the reason was due to a large group travelling together too.

Ended up a bit lower and a bit flatter than ideal.
Very sticky. Involved some walking.

36.8mph....you need to try harder! I did 57mph on my last day, wouldn't mind 70mph next year, should probably get a helmet though ha

They opened a black run.
I attempted the traverse to enter it.
I was watched, and they closed the run.

Anyone heading out to 3V This week might want to hope for some fresh snow. Was drizzling when we left Courchevel this morning and it was already a bit slushy and bare low down. VT was really busy yesterday as everyone seemed to be heading higher. Heading home looking more tanned than I have been after a week in Greece in summer!

Just came back from Villars in Switzerland. Pretty grim conditions all round really - grass on the lower slopes and slush up top.

All the locals said it looked more like mid-May than mid-March.

Hope it changes soon.
