Going over to France, we are hiring a car from one of the big hire companies. I now understand that because I no longer have the paper part of my driving licence I need a number so that the hire company can check if I have any endorsements on my licence??? Is this correct and if so where do I obtain said number??
Thanks.

Me neither, but it's a ten second job to check on the DVLA website and print out the code smile

I did that when picking up a car from Enterprise recently - the chap behind the desk said ooh yes, we're supposed to ask for those but nobody ever does. He then proceeded to completely ignore it.

In France this week with a hire car (surprisingly good Fiat 500X) and wasn't asked for anything other than to check my licence number was the same as I'd put in at the time of booking....

Booking a car transporter the hire company have asked that I make sure I have the code number available. He did say that they can access the code on the day of hire but it saves time if I bring it along myself. This is in the UK.
Another example of the UK following the rules to the letter?
