If you leave early enough, you can get to Munich easily in a day (except a bank holiday!).

Why not stop there? Lots to see and do and then you can pootle down to Austria the next day (or add a day to explore Munich a little).

We used to stop in Luxembourg or just in France when we regularly drove to Munich, but our daughter was very young, so we didn't start early or end later than the late afternoon.

A couple of adults can certainly get further.

We drove from the UK to St Anton once, left about Midnight and arrived before lunch time the next day - Lots of 120 MPH+ driving through the night though, I expect a lot of that route is no longer unrestricted

If the OP has been to Sinsheim then should also do it's other site at Speyer,it's only 25 minutes up the road.

Did them both just last week, both excellent displays.

I'm trying to do a thread about the whole trip,it's going slowly.

did Dachau a couple of years back - a very sobbering place and well worth a visit. Not sure that I could live on the estate surrounding the camp
