Take them all, it's only an extra 10kg.

We're off there for a week in august, planning on taking the bikes to get around and maybe do a little light exploring, plus the paraglider to get some airtime. Looks like a top place.

We are actually in Annecy right now, staying in a Gite booked through Airbnb in Menthon Saint Bernard, a pretty village about 10km round the lake from the town itself. It is absolutely gorgeous right now - about 25 degrees and sunny, although a thunderstorm is threatening!

I drove from Lucerne 2 weeks ago (the first half of a month long break as we've just finished 2 years in the Middle East and I have a bit of a break before the new job starts). The Mrs and junior (18 months) are flying from Geneva; I'm driving (new 535d touring, so not really a chore).

Roads here are fab - peage was a doddle with the token, and there are some great mountain roads - we did the Cret de Chatillon yesterday. Plenty to do for kids etc - gorges, boats, walks etc. More paragliders than I've ever seen.

We will be coming back.

I think we stayed at Camping Europa a few years back. Then it was not too big and commercialised but had everything we needed. Also it was a short cycle ride into the centre of Annecy via. a cycle way at the back of the site.

We had 3 nights at the site below on way to Italy a few years ago.

We did so much it felt like we'd been there a week. Annecy is great - would go back any time.

Campsite was actually at place called Doussard (its a hamlet) at the far end of Annecy lake - but there is a cycle path (old railway line) to cycle into annecy (10 mins) or we cycled round the lake to catch the ferry to Annecy (missed it actually - but hired speed boat to chase after it and get on at next stop so all good fun).

We also all (children 8 - 10) parasailed off the top beyond Clusaz (pictures on the above link) and that was excellent - land in the football field just next to the campsite. Campsite was small / basic but had enough for us with everything else going on and 3 nights. Our children even got to learn to scuba dive in the campsite pool for free which was a nice bonus.

Not wanting to hijack the OPs thread but I'm probably looking at La Ravoire or Camping Europa. I think we will just wing it and then up and then we have a choice whether or not to travel into the Alps to visit the likes of Chamonix, or to stay up there while we travel about
