Mrs Silver is 40 and the sis is 50 going on 15 and mad as a box of frogs, beach is not important, they like cafe culture, bars clubs, bit of shopping history and cobbled streets type thing.
I was thinking Florence ?

I assume that having done it before she will have the correct paperwork but just be mindful that if not a uk citizen she may struggle to re-enter the country. We went to amsterdam for a day and my Japanese sister in law who was over for a few weeks really struggled to get back into the UK.

Was there a Visa problem? Otherwise I cant understand what the issue could be.I've never had any problems entering countries when carrying the correct Visa.
I assume so if im honest im not too sure as we all had to go the eu passport side and she had to go the other side. First time we knew there was a problem was when she still hadnt appeared 30 minutes later and wouldnt let any of us go back to help her. At the time she was typical Japanese in that she could speak English but was to afraid of getting it wrong and making a fool of herself she only would talk to people she felt comfortable with.
I had a long weekend in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. First time there for c25 years and the place is so much nicer than it used to be. Plenty to see and do with a lot of places offering trips out to tulip fields, windmills etc. as well as a good night life that covers most bases
Shopping was good according to Mrs Yex who managed to find quite a few nice things in some of the trendy boutiques that are scattered about.
It is a very easy journey from Schiphol to the centre of town and then to get to a hotel is generally a short walk and/or short ride on a tram.

Got back from Bratislava, Slovakia yesterday - fits the bill perfectly, cobbled streets, outdoor cafe culture, small easy city to walk around.
Check out the Crown Plaza hotel (3 mins walk to the center) or Hotel Loft (7 mins walk to the center) which has a busy bar in the evenings and brews it's own beers.
Flew into Vienna airport, coach to Bratislava from Vienna Airport was 4 euros and took 45 minutes.
Or Fly direct RyanAir from Stanstead.
If they fancy going back to Vienna for a day and want to take a boat, then the trip from Bratislava along the Danube into Vienna takes 90 minutes each way and cost 20-30 euro each way.
