Does anyone have a recommendation for a deal to Cape Town? I am trying to work out the best options as we have never been and have to go to a wedding there, so thought we might as well make it into a bit of a holiday.

ETA: the reason for my unresearched question is because I have never been on a package holiday, except one which was gross, so I don't want to get it wrong or pay over the odds.

It's not geared for package deals. Eating out and drinking is so cheap that you would get bored if you were tied to one hotel.

Hire a car and use Über when you are there. Stay Atlantic Ocean side.

Any ideas on flights? The prices seem to vary so much that I don't know what a good deal actually is

Which travel class? How fussy are you about airline? And finally what month are you travelling?

Planning on travelling in April 2017, wedding is on 22nd.
Not fussy about travel class at all.

I think economy you want to aim for £700 or less, BA showing less than £700 direct. SA are doing via JNB for less than £500 at the moment. That's a bargain!

The time difference is 1 hour. Max 2 hours. Flights are overnight so it's actually ok. Direct to ct is expensive. Do not go via Doha. Waaaaaaay too long. Go via joburg. It's not actually that big a difference in time and the flight from there to ct is 2 hours and some nice scenery so try to get a window seat. Virgin have the brand spanking new airliners flying there. They really are something else!
Accommodation will still be expensive. They price it to the pound so the worse the rand is then the more money they make.
We spend R20000 on a week in a 3 bed hotel room with no sea view as it was blocked by the other hotel.... Which we weren't told about. bds

AirBNB is a very good option, especially if you share wth another couple. Agreed that any airline other than Qatar is fine (personally I don't fly via Dubai either - they have a tendency to delay flights and you have to stay over, losing a day).

Fresnaye, Sea Point, Camps Bay, Clifton, Bantry Bay, Waterfront, Mouille Point are the only places along the Atlantic I would stay.

If you are a golfer, take your clubs.
