Going on holiday in September and have looked for some quotes for parking at Gatwick. The price for 2 weeks in the long stay car park is c.£140 which seems really expensive. In previous years I've paid c.£100 max. Is it worth waiting until nearer the time to book or will the prices just keep going up?

There are cheaper alternatives but these are usually places where they park your car for you i.e. they rag it to death and then squeeze it so close to other cars that scratches are inevitable!

The airport hotels do good deals on stay & park. The Holiday Inn just off the airport would appear to do 1 night plus 2 weeks parking for about £75 in September and I assume they do terminal transfers. When I've been there for meetings they appear to park these cars on their own grounds.

I wont trust these hotels with my car, when I have questioned them in the past they cannot guarantee where the car will be parked and if you leave it at the airport in long term parking you don't know who is squeezing past it with cases and bags.
I have just got back from Vegas and leave my car with garaged.com, he is a member on here or just google the company, I cannot speak highly enough of the service you receive from them, at the end of the day it is peace of mind for me.
I have no connection whatsoever with this company, mention Pistonheads and you should get a discount

We've just stated overnight at the Bloc Gatwick hotel- the parking is Gatwicks own Valet parking.

Cost us £120 for the room and 14 nights parking and it was valet parking which always makes life easier

Used Tudor Rose for many years without fault. They provide meet and greet valet parking. Worth asking for a quote.

That's a great deal, we booked the premium valet parking last month and that was £90 for 7 nights..

I've used Cophall Parking and they're a lovely company. Until recently family-run. They have their own car park and don't park any vehicles off-site. They have shuttle minibuses taking people to the airport and bringing them back. Their website says £120 or so for two weeks in Sept, Saturday to Saturday.

Go cheap and your car might be parked on a road in Manor Royal industrial estate, I'm not joking...

Why are you doing all that?

You live in Sussex, you can get the local minicab company to take you to Gatwick for tuppence each way? Shirley?

I have. It was a good few years ago, but one of their drivers stole all of the money I keep in the car for parking machines (was about ~£15).
Even aside from that, I would not use valet parking for any car I cared about.

We used it once at gatwick.... and then spent the next week on holiday worrying about the car. Never again.

Fair question smile
I've used them for parking when I went to a meeting in London - their one-day parking rate is cheaper than a few hours' parking at Gatwick, and with my family I used them when we went away for a week, since the taxi rate for my home to Gatwick at some ungodly hour was silly.

Here's a good reason to choose your parking firm carefully (or just go official): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3662136/Ho...

With my BMW app, I can see exactly where Purple Parking park my car.
It's a company car though, so I don't lose too much sleep over it.

However I'm shocked at the Gatwick long stay prices for August. About £180.
I'm now researching the hotel option, but seems silly to sleep over when we're only an hour's drive away.

I also live about an hour from Gatwick.

Surely, you should use a cab? It will, maybe, be a bit more expensive than long term parking/hotel parking etc but you get peace of mind and an easy journey to/from Gatwick.

I would never let any firm park my car at any airport. I drive in the vicinity of Gatwick regularly and nearly every trip I see cars being moved from one on street parking area to another all the time, and there's many a dodgy off street site in the area too.

So have I- I should say its a company car so I'm not too bothered and it is fitted with a tracker so I know where it has been and what speed they have done in it. Its the latter that is the issue- this May they drove it at 97mph down he M25 and last year over 90 mph on three occasions. This year they also brought the car to the airport 5 hours too early, took it back again and it wasn't there when I arrived- they then handed me an invoice with a "no show" charge !
On each occasion I have had at least half the money back, a free car wash and 50% off next time. All in all the last two times have cost me around £30 for a week!
I'll probably use them again as I have another 50% off!!
If it was my own car I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
