I'm in the Dordogne from this weekend for a whole week. We'll be staying in a village between Bordeaux and Bergerac.

Where are some good places to visit? I like photography, so am after impressive landscapes within 2-3hrs drive.

Thanks!

Nip up to the chateau at Monbazillac. A lovely smaller chateau building and they also produce a mean dessert wine....superb taken chilled with a fruit pud.

I lived 5 mins away from sarlat for 2 years and have built a holiday house there over the past 7 years , visit sarlat Saturday for the market , take a trip to rocamadour and make sure you walk down into the town , canoe trip on the Dordogne river , souillac is OK to fill in an hour on your way back from rocamadour , Les eyzies is ok if a bit touristy with troglodyte ,and stalagmite caves .
Eat in the restaurant ' la tourney ' in sarlat , it's one of the very few that are open all year and used by the locals , make sure to order the escalope de fois , if your ok with liver ?

What is the name of the village & the sort of things you like doing and I can point you to some specifics

As a general guide, I would say St Emilion is well worth a visit, as is the Chateau at Duras. The Saturday market in St Foye la Grande is a good classic local market. There any number of vineyards to tour and kayaking on the Dordogne itself can be fun if you're into that sort of thing

We used to go on holiday in the area a lot when I was younger, most of the places have already been named but I remember Rocamadour being stunning on the side of the cliffs above the river.

Also the caves are fantastic, Gouffre de Padirac had an underground lake that you ride a boat across, and Gouffre de Proumeyssac is very impressive.

Sarlat really is lovely, IMO avoid market day, far too busy.

St Emilion is closer to you and also well worth a visit.
