Next month....preferably on or very near beach but all open to all suggestions.
I would like it to also be walking distance to a buzzy town.
Hotel recommendations also welcome.
p.s. I don't play golf.

If you want "buzzy" then either Albufeira (the strip) or Praia da Rocha, rest of it is pretty quiet. Can't recommend any hotels, always stayed in villas / apartments when I've been.

Perhaps not the right adjective to use.
I enjoy a stroll around a town in the afternoon like eg Seville or Barcelona.
Not isolated where I'd have to get a taxi to get there.

have a look at Lagos - nice town plenty of bars, mad or calm and lots of places to eat - two main beaches - smaller town beach and another one (cant remember name) thats huge and deep - had a great time there at least twice - harbour area and not too spoilt by high rise hotels. theres plenty of other beaches within car or taxi ride outside of the town.
Agree with this- personally I wouldn't go near Albufera or Praia Rocha.

Porto de Mos is just down the road which is nice.

Another thumbs up from me. Lagos is a lovely old town with a decent amount of bars and restaurants without too many faux English pubs and the like.

Albufuira and Rocha are nice enough but are verging a bit too near the Benidorm effect for my liking.

+1 for Albufuira. Stayed in a self-catering apartment just above Old Town last year.
