Looking at a single flight to either Orlando or Tampa late Oct/early Nov and am shocked at the prices. Looked at Norwegian BUT crikey, you get a seat...somewhere on the plane and thats it and the reviews stink. Also am mega pissed of at the diff in 1 way v return. Anyone else searching? Which sites are you looking at.

I've just had a look at Skyscanner and I can see what you mean about pricing. Norwegian to Orlando is by far the cheapest one way (from LON) so maybe it's the only option without stops, although I personally wouldn't fancy 9 hours down the back of a 787!

You may find it cheaper to buy a return.

Will they let you in with a one-way ticket?

If you go the week after half term prices should be much cheaper. Last time we went (during October half term) it was £800 return with Thomson.

I'm looking to do the reverse: from Florida to London in November (returning home from transatlantic cruise) and am having the same issues.

Looking at Skyscanner and airline sites + at anything else to work out a way round the imbalance between single/return fare.

Flying back from Miami late Nov is cheaper on Norwegian in their premium (where you do actually get fed and a luggage allowance) than BA/Virgin everyone else in cattle-class. Downside to me is timing and it arrives in Gatwick, Heathrow would be an easier trip home.

I've found over the recent years that airlines pump up their prices to an inflated level, but then seem to have regular sales. We're off to Seattle soon. For ages BA were charging in excess of £1000 each return in eco. We managed to get first class return for £2k each. The return journey was priced at £860, when business was >£2500. The other first flight that day was £6500. So you really have to search the fares. The BA sale when we booked had a stipulation that you had to be there and back in 7 days, but we still found the decent fare for a 2 week trip.

Perhaps we should think about a bit earlier if it coincides with school hols. The flight to MCO is on a "Dreamliner" and dare I assume.....hic, that the seating is not too tight/narrow? We could put up with taking sandwiches/water onboard ourselves.....can we? The savings are quite a lot compared to any other direct basically BA to Tampa and Virgin to Orlando. As to can we just go 1 way, yes we can...dual cits. I also quite like kayak with their matrix system. Will be keeping a close eye on prices over the next 3 months. In the past I have usually booked between a month-6 weeks b4 departure.

Thomson's seat pitch was 37" in Premium and 34" in Economy - very comfortable.

You should be able to take your own sandwiches but drinks need to be bought after you've passed security.

Thomson serve drinks as part of the air fair these days. I'm just off one of their dream liners today back from Dominican Republic. Economy is on a par with that you'll get with any of the big boys' economy.
