1. Fill in the form: https://www.easyjet.com/EN/Reclaim.mvc/Index
2. Wait a week or so before chasing them in writing (in case they don't get back to you): customer.service@easyjet.com
3. You should receive an email from Easyjet confirming the amount of the compensation you are entitled to (in my case £ 280,00 for an overnight delay)
4. You should receive a cheque by post within 2-4 weeks

Just received the following from the airline:-

I’m very sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused you following the disruption to your flight to London Luton.

Our aim is to operate all our flights safely and on time. We do all we possibly can to minimise disruption but unfortunately on some occasions we’re unable to keep to our schedule.

The compensation rules set by the EU clearly state that if the disruption is within our control you are entitled to compensation and if it considered ‘extraordinary’ then no compensation is payable.

Having checked the details of your flight (EZY2448), I can confirm that the reason for your disruption was due to (Other-Non Extra Reasons). This event is classified as non-extraordinary under EC Regulation 261/2004 and you will therefore be entitled to a compensation of 210.37 GBP (250 Euros) per passenger.

We’ll send you a cheque and this should be with you within 14 days from today.

We've jut been notified that we're getting €700 out of them.

I'm not entirely sure what should do - that's still some €200 shy of what we paid for the last minute flights so we're still out of pocket.

Does anyone know how they arrive at at their determination? Is it worth pushing for the full amount or am I just lucky to have got anything.

What they are paying you is the statutory amounts for delay/cancellation.

Do you not have travel insurance to cover the losses for difference in the cost of the flights? That way the statutory compensation is a bonus on top.

Yeah we do have cover but it's not really the point.

Easyjet Ts and Cs seem to suggest that they will pay the value of the flight you had to buy home. If it's a statutory amount, is that published? How much is it?
