As promised,on way home from 2 days in Germany.

Big delays at French frontier control at Dover ,big slow queues, wasted 30-40 minutes in that.
Boat was 70 minutes delayed too.
A16 E40 France Belgium border coned, one lane, everyone has to come off go round roundabout rejoin,WTF is the point of that as no police checks ,at gone 1am no real delays but coming home the queue going east was much longer at 10pm but no delay going into France at this time but still have to come off and on again.

No delays at Calais but boat was 90 minutes delayed.
Advice ,expect delays.

More news.
Just got home.
Not really relevant to thread title either but is of use.

When I finally drove off ferry at 2am,Dover was full of traffic.

A20 was queuing BOTH lanes, all the way back to the A20 tunnel.

Don't know how far that is but it's miles.

The queue that I was in Wednesday evening was nothing compared to 2 hours ago.
There will be 1000s of disgruntled holidaymakers sitting in that.

Four hour delays on the A20 to Dover apparently.

Due to increased security checks by the French according to the BBC. Ferry companies are advising leaving 4 hours to get through passport controls. If you miss your booked ferry you should be able to travel on the next one - sounds like total chaos to me.

Sounds like I got off lightly on Wednesday evening.

The queue into Dover was HUGE early this morning.

Seriously considering giving up Euro road trips, can do without this stress when trying to leave the country.

I don't know what that means but basically chances are you're in for a queue on A16/E40 France /Belgium

road unless it's the middle of the night.

Back onto Dover, it got mentioned on BBC breakfast news, saying 6 to 8 hours to get to the port and then 4 more hours to pass through controls.

Insane.

Are the French actually checking passports, the Friday after the attacks on Nice, they just waved us through on the tunnel, the day of the attacks in Paris the enhanced checks included just standing in the inspection shed, no one was stopped, the English immigration where checking ever car.

Also rather worryingly the que to get back into Calais docks is right up to where the jungle is, I'm hoping that the st with the migrants won't start again.

French frontier at Dover are checking most passports, not all but still way too slow ,also some cars are pulled

into a shed ,me included for a quick swab of steering wheel for explosive traces from peoples hands.

It is.

It's a weekend that I avoid, as many should (sorry for people who can't though). I expect queues for the West Country as well.

I've had no problems with the tunnel over the last couple of weeks (albeit 30mins waiting to go through border controls instead of 30mins shopping opportunities biggrin)

But fortunately I can avoid peak times.
