My wife and I have used the same Scottish-based travel firm for all our recent holidays, the service has been great, and I'm on their e-mailing list.

One of their latest mailings had a deal on a Norwegian Line cruise which included in the price the NL's 'ultimate drinks package', and today we went to our local branch to book it on that basis. The agent was very helpful, but informed us that the drinks package inclusion had been a limited offer and wasn't available anymore. To take up the drinks package now costs around a thousand pounds(!) for the seven night cruise. The holiday is at very short notice (next week) and there aren't that many options left, so we paid the advertised price and bought it minus the booze package.

I'm checking my day's emails after dinner tonight (Wed) and there's a circular from our travel firm...and they're still offering Norwegian Line cruises..with the drinks package included in the price!

I shall be phoning them tomorrow to register my dismay. Do I have any sort of case against the agent?

Ask them to re-book you on the drinks package option.

Show them the previous email, show them the current email and see what they come back with.

NCL may still be advertising the deal, but usually in the small print it is only on cruises leaving at least one month later (they don't want to offer it on last minute discounted bookings) and it is also not available on guaranteed cabins (i.e. the cheapest bookings where they allocate the cabin location).
