Hi,

Looking to book my Stag do shortly in Vegas and was wondering if anyone could provide any recommendations for decent hotels?

It appears to me that some of the big name ones are becoming a little dated and run down. There are 3 or 4 of us going and we are essentially looking to have an inebriated 5 nights out there. Looking for hotels that have clean rooms, a buzzing nightlife with decent casino and decent pool scene during the day.

Any recommendations?

Cant fault the Bellagio.

Bung the receptionist $20 and get a room upgrade. Worked for us anyway.

Planet Hollywood.

In the middle of strip, cheap, but clean, and at 05:00 in the morning when you can't sleep (as it is impossible to sleep in Vegas!) you can go and watch the Pleasure Pit girls whilst having a drink, and spending more money.

I went with family (for my wedding) to PH and always said if I went back with the boys I would stay there. If I went back with the Mrs, I would stay somewhere else. I know people that have been on stag do's and thought somewhere like Hooters hotel would be great (just behind the strip), but it was bad. Really bad. So bad and dirty they had to change hotels.

Also you are asking about it on PH, so perhaps an appropriate answer to stay in PH.

Can either of you clarify a bit further what was good about the hotels you have mentioned, what type of trip were you on etc?

I was there on a 2 road week trip with the missus. stayed 3 nights.

Big, clean rooms, ridiculous size casino, restaurants galore, central to 'the strip', fountains are quite cool.

Its vegas, it doesnt need much more biggrin

If you are there with a stag do, all you need is to be able to drunkenly find your room - I dont recall how good the direction signage is hehe

Planet Hollywood is at the top of my list at the moment, just looking to do as much research as possible before committing. I've also read some bad reviews on trip advisor saying it is getting a bit tired and dated.

Both of those look slightly upmarket for us if that makes sense!

Stayed at Ballys for one recently, we used the hotel as somewhere for a few hours sleep per day and somewhere to shower, it has a monorail station at the hotel to make getting around easier, we then spent time at Tropicana, MGM, Encore, Mirage for pool parties and Paris, Wynn, Encore & Drais for nightclubs,

The hotel itself was a little dated but clean and secure with good access to transport ie monorail/taxi's it's at the cheaper end of strip hotels but is right in the middle of the strip too which helps a lot,

For a lads trip i'd happily stay there again

Cool,

Was at Encore for a stag, XS is for me hands down the best club in LV. Omnia is a great club in Ceasars. Venetian is a good spot too, with huge pools and Tao is also a good club.

I have done Hard Rock for a stag as well, but its a little nackered,

Dont forget to put the $50 in the passports at check in

Stayed in the Cosmo in July, lovely spot, big casino floor, some good restaurants, pools had a mixed crowd round and in them

Luxor. Really lively in the Casino and at show time, and you can grab the monorail to Mandalay Bay or Excalibur from inside the hotel.

Edit: Also got the nightclub inside too.

My stag was to LV and we stayed at PH (PH towers) hangover style suites (big screens, wet bar, 2 jacuzzis in each suite), was amazing and really reasonable. Not sure what PH Towers is called now but well worth a look. Central strip location which IMO is where you want to be. PH is a real party hotel, perfect for a stag.

Edit and yes ALWAYS do the 20 dollar trick in Vegas, never had it fail http://www.thetwentydollartrick.com/

I assume you mean Planet Hollywood? How long ago was the stag do?

Yes, attached to Planet Hollywood (part of the hotel) is something called (or was called) PH Towers which has the suites. Really reasonably priced too. Mine was in March 2012

After sitting down with the comrades this evening we all agreed and booked the Mandalay Bay hotel. I'll definitely be trying to pop into as many of the hotels mentioned on here though to sample their events. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Manadalay Bay is great. The outdoor pool/beach section is fantastic.

Good for plane watching too as its right across from the airport if thats your thing.

I stayed in the Flamingo a few weeks ago. Great location and excellent value, it’s much cheaper than the hotels surrounding it – Caesars, Bellagio. Has free parking and a monorail station for getting up to the other ends of the strip.

Edit - just read that you've booked. You're a little way from the "center" of the strip there but it is all walkable, assuming it's not too hot!

when you say shortly when do you mean? as far as I know the pool parties have all just ended, and some hotels even shut their pools now.

Mandalay bay is an ok choice, a little out of the way but not bad. Annoyingly being an mgm property they now charge for parking.
