off to the US next year for my 3 score and 10 last visit

In 2001 i had a quad bypass, and wa told by the surgeon, i am 100 fit

social drinker

non smoker since 1979

reasonably fit

so why when i fill in the forms i see the premium double or more because of this and yest an obese heavy drinker/smoker couch potato who has more chance than me of getting a heart attack get cheaper insurance?

Put it car related, the heap of junk that just gets through the mot each year with no maintenance at all is rated a better bet than my regularly serviced car which because it had an engine reeebore is considered a potential death wish.?

My urine is exceeding 212 degrees F

There are 2 possibilities:

1. Insurance is rated out of spite. They deliberately target people who have had major heart operations in the past and charge them inflated premiums, despite them being a better risk. And although travel insurance is a fiercely competitive market with hundreds of players, no one firm has decided to step out of this scam, offer lower rates, clean up and make a fortune.

2. Statistics show that people who have had major heart operations in the past are in fact a worse risk than those who haven't.

Now I'm no expert, but my money is on option 2.
