Christmas ski holiday with children
Discussion
We did Xmas for the last two years in Verbier....what everyone has said about altitude being your friend is very true. Our kids are young so all we wanted was piste skiing and luckily as Verbier is high we were okay. There was no snow below 2200m last Xmas which is higher than a lot of popular French resorts like Morzine....that's the mid-station in Verbier so we were lucky. The year before was a bit better with snow lower down but it still wasn't great.
I wouldn't contemplate going anywhere where there is a decent amount of skiing above 2000m. French resorts relatively close to Verbier had to open their mountain bike parks last Xmas!
Our kids don't go back to school until 9th Jan so this year we're going for the first week of Jan as it's a) cheaper b) better chance of snow c) with Xmas Day being a Sunday and most resorts running Sat/Sat we wanted to avoid travelling so close to Xmas Day.
