Really great, enjoyed that and the photos.

What is it that takes you on these trips?

Wanderlust, open road, restlessness. Travelled my whole life, and when I have time I prefer a drive to a flight, ( which I do a lot for business).

Always pick up new cars at the factory for Euro delivery too, and do very long trips there also. I put up 6500km on my 991RS in two weeks in Sep 2015 in Germany/Austriasmile.......

Loved the article. You have quite an eye for photography. However, I do take exception that not a single picture of the great city of Kansas City, MO (not Kansas City, Kansas!! ) was posted. One of the few livable cities left in the country. City of fountains, the arts, and of course 2015 World Series Champions ! (That was a dig to the Blue Jays)

The county where Kansas City, MO is went to Trump, and has been turning red for several cycles now. All I can say is there are those of us who recall a quote from First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt who said "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness."

Its like anywhere. You have to get off the main roads. There is a superb book called Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon which is not a tour guide, but a. Record of his wandering through small town America. The possibilities are endless.
Agreed, wandering off the beaten track is always way more interesting. Thanks for the book recommendation, will grab a copy of that beer
