In the process of booking a week in Paris for our honeymoon in February.

Accomodation wise, quite liking the look of: http://www.buddhabarhotelcollection.com/index.php?... but thinking of splitting the trip between two hotels if there were any particularly worthwhile for a few nights.

Food wise is where i'm struggling - would like to do a few tasting menus, but the choices are endless - personal reccomendations are a godsend (discovered http://en.disfrutarbarcelona.com/ based on a reccomendation on here and loved it - I see that it now has a well deserved Michellin star) - would always go modern and experimental rather than traditional - I can cook a steak how I like it at home, I can't do any of the molecular gastronomy sutff, so I know which one I would rather pay for.

For stuff to do, probably tick off all the touristy nonsense as she has never been and I have only been for work, other than that, any must dos, or tips how to wring the most out of the tourist traps? (the Moulin Rouge springs to mind as a way to fleece tourists, but it's gotta be done I suppose)

I would recommend the Hotel les Dames du Pantheon. It is small but perfectly formed and the rooms are beyond romantic and the service superb. They have a car and driver which makes the perfect taxi to get to foodie places (and you will be amazed at how good a Citroen C6 is). Make sure you have one of the rooms at the front overlooking the Pantheon.

With romance in the air nothing beats wandering down the hill and around the Garden Du Luxembourg - especially at the weekend, even in the chilly winter.

Food wise is a bit more tricky because the choice (and budget) is so vast. However for something special you cannot go wrong at Epicure.

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and I wish the best of trips and a long and happy marriage.

If you heed this advice and stay near the Pantheon you could do worse than to book the following for a "cheap" night out:

It was really really lovely and good value too all things considered however as a bit of a destination on Tripadvisor had a high Sep content smile

Cheers - and good luck from me too

New York is many things but a perfect honeymoon destination it is not.

I've been Paris many times, and during my Honeymoon I stayed at the Pullman Hotel which is literally a few minutes away from the Eiffel Tower.

Plenty to see there IMO, the Mona Lisa was underwhelming but the Lourve was fantastic. Eiffel tower is just amazing and I'd recommend staying for sunset if you have clear skies

Firstly Paris in Feb is freezing - like no joke freezing, so take plenty of layers.

I go to Paris 4/5 times a year and if I'm booking I always go for the deluxe junior suite at Hotel de Seze - it's a small, ultra friendly place, great location, free films, cool little hammam to warm up at the end of the day and your not paying for one of the 'big names'. http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/de-seze-paris.html

My wife has stayed quite a few times at Le Maurice and it's been hit and miss and very expensive.

Also, go to Hotel Costes for a glass of wine, funky and different and in a good location for getting to other places - https://hotelcostes.com/

Final word of advice would be to get Uber loaded onto your phone as lately I've found the taxi's you flag down appalling.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Have booked a room at the Buddha for the Friday and Saturday and 4 days in http://hidden-hotel.com/ (mainly because we liked the look of it!) during the week.

As for it being freezing, we live in Aberdeen, so are pretty used to it being chilly - New York was out partially for this reason and partly for the fact we are going in the summer anyway - last few years before kids ruin holidays for a while, so why not? As for Paris costing the earth - yeah, but we will probably only do it once, so again, why not?

Places to eat:
Sola looks like a winner - Japanese Fusion type stuff, bit of a tasting menu affair and the chef cooks you what he fancies - right up our street and seems reasonably priced
Epicure - probably a bit out of the price range - tempted to try a few of the better places at lunch to cut down on costs a bit, but still tick off a variety.
I vaguely remember getting taken to a place that just did variations on steak tartare when I was there for work a few years back that was cracking - a few too many vins has made me forget the name though, so that might be an option - wan't the sort of place to embrace a website though, so meh.

Stuff to do:
Eifel Tower - goes without saying really.
Champs Elysees - Have a good laugh at the prices. Look at watches we will never afford
Moulin Rouge - she loves the film, so is a must
Disneyland Paris - bit of fun if nothing else
Concert of some variety - Porter Robinson is playing with Madeon supporting, but that's more up my street than hers and a sweaty electro bounce about isn't the most romantic of things smile

We are usually pretty relaxed when it comes to city breaks and are happy to wander about and do a bit of what the locals do, but with it being that cold in Feb, hours and hours of walking probably isn't the best of ideas, hence trying to plan a few things and be a bit more structured.

All this Eiffel Tower hype is beyond me. One of the most famous sights in the world and you go to the top for a view of a fantastic city without the Eiffel Tower in it. In fact you see the monstrous carbuncle that is la Tour Montparnasse. Now, in my opinion it is better to go to the viewing area atop la Tour and get an eyeful of the Eiffel and the city without the carbuncle.
Better still, on the roof of the Printemps department store is a cafe/bar with fantastic views of the Sacre Couer, E-Tower and la T-M.

For restaurants, try le Train Bleu in Gare de Lyon, beautiful building and fantastic food.

If she's into expensive fashion and seeing the stars then a trip along rue Saint Honore with something eyewateringly expensive to eat/drink in the Mandarin Oriental.

Loads to see & do, I love the city and am lucky to have family living there.....

ETA, le Ciel de Paris is a decent restaurant on the 47th (I think) floor of la T-M
