Wife is 30 in January, I've been tasked with arranging a long weekend (Sat morning till Tuesday) somewhere. I've thought about Lisbon, but bit worried about what the weather might be like in January? Any other suggestions?

Ideally few hours flight from London airports, Eurostar also an option or would consider few hours drive from Essex within the UK. Paris, Budapest, Dublin and all of Italy have all been done recently so they're off the list!

Thanks for any suggestions!

You say all of Italy has been done, does that include Venice?

Yep she had 10 days in Italy last year with a friend so they ticked off most of the major cities then.

Do you want warm(er) or are you prepared to go cold? A friend did Finland last winter, stay in a glass igloo at Kakslauttanen, dog sleds, snowmobiles, northern lights. Along the same lines Reykjavik is awesome, good food, friendly people who like a drink, lots to see.

Krakow. Lots to see, good food, nice people. Easy walking around town.

BA holidays often do very good deals in January - I've been looking recently and you can get three days in a decent hotel for about £130 each flights included. Three nights at the Radisson Blu is under £200 each.

Will be cold!!

No worries.
The good thing is that you get the full baggage allowance- 23kg. I may be able to travel light but she certainly cannot!
You will find that the price changes sometimes when you get to the booking stage, a little annoying but hey ho. You can sometimes change flight times foc to suit if there are multiple flights per day.

If cold isn't an issue can thoroughly recommend Tallinn. The old town is beautiful, with great food, bars and cafés.
