Not that much difference nowadays between BA, Easyjet or Ryanair. In fact I'd probably now choose Ryanair. Big problem with Easyjet has been late flights and poor hand luggage arrangements.

Pre-selecting and paying a few quid for your seats gets you speedy boarding (first crack at the overhead lockers).

I would prefer Ryanair.
Easy jet likes to be late.
Also on the last flight I had to wait over 3 hours to get a drink on A319....
They are as easy as communist countries are "people's"...

Only if you pay the premium £8.99 per seat/sector allocated seats fee, the boggo standard £2.99 fee per set/sector doesn't include speedy boarding.

Much as I praised Easyjet further up the thread, I'd forgotten they were on my stlist from out last trip with them. We've been married four years so Mrs PT's passport is still in her maiden name. I did suggest to her that she should change it (incurring a new passport fee, obvs) for convenience but she wanted to eke out whatever spend she'd made on it. I knew this would be doomed to one of us forgetting about the difference and whilst I usually remember, booked some flights in a hurry, and put down her married name on the booking, not matching her passport.

Had I realised within 24hrs then Easyjet ould have allowed me to change it online FOC, but because I only realised a day or so before we flew the 'administration' charge to change was astronomical - nearly the cost of a new flight, and far in excess of what Mrs PT had saved on not changing her passport. That was a fun "I told you so ..." convo.

I understand they do this to deter people flogging seats on the black market and doing a late 'name change' but in this case my wife's passport number was the same as previously entered on their website on many other flights - clearly the same person. Their Customer Service were totally 'computer says no' on being flexible, completely non-negotiable even though we've flown with them countless times. So yeah, in that respect, they are total s.

If you're a frequent flyer, Easyjet have a special membership scheme where you get free flight changes and free name changes.

Interesting - I didn't know that, I'll take a look. I must admit I'm too busy to read most marketing blurb I get sent so if they had chucked this my way I'd not have given it a thought. Not much use to me after the event but her PP has another 5 years to run on it so we'll prob be in the same predicament at some point!! Cheers for the info.

ETA: I don't meet the criteria as I probably only do 6-7 flights a year with them, over many years.

Passengers who meet the following qualifying criteria will be invited to join Flight Club:
•You have booked and flown on 20 flights or more in the past 12 months, or
•You have booked and flown on 10 flights or more, and spent £1500 or other currency equivalent in the past 12 months, or
•You have booked and flown on an average 10 flights or more for 10 years, with at least one flight every year.

I wouldnt bother too much about that. Though actually I think I'm only 2-3 flights off making that.

The thing that I signed up for is easyjet plus

https://plus.easyjet.com/

£170 a year, speedy boarding, free seat selection, 2 pieces of hand baggage, and fast track security. Pays for itself after a few flights. I'm pretty much always in row 1 now and its amazing what a difference it makes, the entire airport experience is better, quick through security, very strongly policed speedy boarding, and, being first off managing to get the very first taxi

Had the same thing when we went to Thailand for our honeymoon, flights booked in maiden name so just turned up and explained to the guy on the desk (Emirates) and he let us check in but had to do the same thing for all flights inc internal flights in Thailand.

We did call Emirates a few days before the flight & they said we would need to re-book, no option of a free name change but luckily we got someone decent on the phone & told us that we would/should be fine just explaining at the desk on the day.

I've just used Easyjet, for the second time, from Bristol to Fuerteventura and they've been great. Can't say the speedy boarding was policed but the queue for the speedy boarding was much longer than those without and we all kind of filed through, regardless.

My gripe with Ryanair is the way they change their flight times. I have only flown with them twice.
I flew with them to Tenerife and they changed the time of the flight and screwed up my pre-booked parking which was non-adjustable.
I have just booked a holiday to Gran Canaria with Ryanair in May and less than two weeks later they have changed the flight time to over 6 hours earlier, both flights. Luckily, I have pre=booked parking that I can amend.
So if you're booking parking you can't change, dial in the earliest and latest times on the days of departure and return for when they change it.

SqueezyJet experts - I'm flying Manchester to Munich for a weekend skiing the Friday after next. Got pre-booked seat with legroom, and I've got my ski boots and other bits I need into my perfectly normal sized hand luggage case.

However I cannot got my ski helmet in there as well. Am I just going to have to risk no helmet or can I get that on board by wearing it on my head, counting it as a "small bag" (it says I can have), disguising it as a codpiece etc?

5 years ago now, but flew Easyjet from London to Malaga, and had motorcycle helmet with me, alongside my laptop bag. Everything else in the hold though. I expected the argument regarding the helmet, and was ready to just wear it on the flight in a fit of childness, but they were fine with it, and the plane was completely full.

In my experience easyjet are always late. In fact, i'm waiting for a flight now - 12.25 scheduled time, 12.41 current estimate. I predict we will sit on the tarmac for 10-20 minutes too.

Other than the lateness they provide a service - get from A to B with no frills. Plenty of hard sales for the food, drink and duty free. I can't believe how much people spend on a sandwich and a beer on a flight that lasts 2 hours. Why not wait and have a decent meal in a restaurant at your destination?

I have flown with them a lot over the last couple of years but avoid them at all costs now. A lot of my flights were 9pmish on a Friday night and it was always delayed by 45minutes to 2 hours.

Never very sure how it is that Easyjet seem to have always been late - they were invariably late when I first started using them, about 1999, and never seem to have improved. All the more strange when Ryanair are invariably on time or early.

My flight ended up landing just under 30 minutes late. I don't normally have any time sensitive connections so it isn't an issue, but can't recommend anyone use them if you need to land on time!

Treat it like a bus and you'll be fine.

If you want any kind of service, go with a traditional airline.

Off to Munich with them next month and Naples in June. The flight is just to get you there and back, not part of the holiday...

cant tell you the official answer but I fly EJ out to Geneva 5-6 times over a season & I always see folks helmets strapped onto their hand luggage & no one says anything.
