For anyone wondering in future, I got an e-mail this morning showing my classification and telling me I could use it as proof to the police that I have this certificate in place until my sticker arrives. So under 48 hours turnaround. Not bad.

Oh, and we drove into central Paris yesterday with no problems. Car now tucked away in an underground car park. Spotted a few cars without stickers while out walking the city yesterday. Mostly foreign registered.

I changed my car over Christmas and registered the new one with the Crit - ters. Had an email two days later with the confirmation, and the full sticker five days later.

I used the free Irfanview (PC) software to resize the scans of the V5.

Antwerp has a similar pre-register scheme, but no sticker, also Nederlands are said to be introducing similar soon. Car is Euro 6 petrol eco-box, so no issues.

My old car sold within days, but the dealer took off the Crit'Air sticker first. No idea what will happen if the new owner tries to re-register it on Crit'air.

Bit of a thread revival...

Have a 1987 petrol car, might have a need to travel to Spa in Belgium via Calais. My usual route would take me on the Autoroutes via Lille - which is a low emission zone ( I never go via Brussels as traffic is a 'mare ).

As I understand it my car is too old to obtain a Crit Air certificate. So does that mean I cannot drive through Lille at all ??

Cheers !

Yes/No/Maybe.

Looking at the Lille map ( http://www.nord.gouv.fr/content/download/52802/344... ) it suggests that even at times of a clampdown you are ok if you stick to the main roads (in green) - similar how you can still drive around the Peripherique in Paris.

I really wouldn't worry about it
Have you seen some of the (local) stheaps that are glued together with duct tape and use the autoroute ringroad at Lille?!

Lol. Not many undamaged cars in France tbh !

Would it be true to say that as long as one sticks to the Autoroutes and does not drive into any of the French towns that require the air quality certificate that one will not get fined ? Been searching the Interweb but the answer to that question appears to be somewhat elusive frown

My earlier response was somewhat facetious (sp?), but from what I saw in Paris last year, there are signs on the peripherique that are changed to say something like "no vehicles above crit air 4 in the city", for example, depending on the local air quality levels.
Your car is too old for the system, and there are still many old cars in major French cities, but I don't think you'd be stopped / fined. Les Flics are more interested in other offences than air quality stickers.

You can avoid Lille too, of course, by heading cross country into Belgium from the Dunkerque - Lille road, although it will take a little longer.

Enjoy your trip to the best racing circuit there is....I'm about 1h30 south. First 2019 trip to Spa for me is WEC in May.

Similar to what I saw in Stuttgart over Christmas. From Jan 1st at certain times no diesels older than EU4 will be allowed into the city. My 2006 Passat TDI no go then. Luckily they have a decent public transport network in the city and environs.

Another thread revival.

I've just discovered I need one of these stickers to drive into Paris. Problem is I've sent the logbook off for a change of address and I leave a week today!

Is there a way of getting the sticker without the V5c? Or am I knackered?

When I 'certified' my car a couple of months ago the Crit'air site needed an upload.

They do send out an email fairly quickly so if the V5 does arrive back in time, and you register, a print-out of the email will suffice (they say).

If the LEZ isn't in operation on the day(s) you visit, then, presumably, you're not committing an offence.

The GreenZone app tells you when LEZs are in operation, but don't buy anything from them.

Only categories 0,1, 2 allowed within the A86 currently. French are not happy!

I didn't get a certificate.

I drove in Paris.

I made it out alive, with all of my money.

Extreme weather conditions and no wind = smog, so lowest emission vehicles only
Autoroutes in Lux dropped from 130 to 90km/h too last week for the same reason, high temps, no wind movement
