Hi All -

Inset day tomorrow and a childcare error mean that i've got to take my kids up to work tomorrow.

Am hoping to do just an hour meeting and then do a couple of things out and about to make a day of it for them.

Based in Soho - little legs radius approx 1-2miles form there - had a look at the London eye but don't really fancy spending 85 quid - beside daughter is not great with heights....

What (free -ish) stuff is there in the capital? TBH - they'll probably be blown away with the concept of underground trains hehe

cheers all

Imperial War Museum is free and very good, but they might be a bit young to appreciate that!

Hamleys and Lego shop not to far a walk away. Covent garden, (think there is a transport museum) and the street performers, also Trafalgar Square.

The Natural History Museum has the dinosaurs and more interactive stuff than the Science Museum last I went. The Museum of London is a nicer size for kids and covers the history of one of the oldest and most interesting places in the country.

They might want to "do" Oxford St, though in truth it's just some rather shabby shops for the most part.

London DLR to Royal Victoria. (Sit at the front). Emirates Cable Car to dome. Riverbus back into town.

Transport museum on Covent Garden a good way to fill some time...

Never failed to fascinate my daughter.

Shrek think on Embankment is fun. I'd steer clear of the museum's. It's half term and they will be mobed.

The no 11 bus covers quite a few of the sights between Liverpool St and Fulham Broadway - St.Paul's, Old Bailey, Trafalgar Sq, etc.

Went past the Lego shop the other day and there was a MASSIVE winding queue to get in! Bonkers just for a shop that sells overpriced plastic bricks with clever merchendising deals

I like to get on a Thames Clipper and tank it down to Greenwich to see the maritime museum, which is free (I think). Good fun watching the crew come alongside the piers and cast off again with a blast of throttle...
