Im off for a few weeks at the end of the year and we have a spare week that we haven't accounted for yet.
Any suggestions for a week-long trip with the family?

Also interested in other people must-do things whilst we are there. We do have kids so that has to factor into things.

Cheers

If you've not already done so, I'd stick a trip to Fraser Island on the list - hire yourself a 4x4 and stay at Kingfisher Bay in a Lodge.

Anywhere, really.
Currently will be visiting Sydney, doing some diving in Queensland and having a week in a motorhome in Western Australia. So any tips of things to do in those areas would be good, but significantly we have a week unaccounted for so we can use that to go anywhere.

This is pretty good and should be interesting enough for adults and kids

We were in Oz last year in Sydney and we spent a few days in Nelson Bay just North of Newcastle about 3 hours drive from Sydney. What a beautiful place.

We stayed at Halifax Bay caravan park just off the beach. There are tons of watersports to do, swimming with dolphins (not cheap!) an aircraft museum. Walked up Mount Tomaree to see the most gorgeous views.

We'd stayed with family in Sydney for a week and Nelson Bay was a beautiful spot to be on our own (with our kids 11-14 yrs) just doing what we wanted to do.

Ferry from Circular Quay to Manly. Nice beach trip with awesome views on the way.

Leave Sydney via the Blue mountains, the view at 7 sisters is worth a luck and head to Bathurst. Its about 3 hours. You can drive around Mount Panarama circuit and there is a museum right next to the circuit. Sydney zoo is worth a visit even if its just for the views across the harbour to the Opera House. All the beaches are great, we loved Manly though. My missus is a Home and Away fan so we went to Palm Beach, which is lovely, They were filming so we bumped into some of the cast, had coffee and cake in the cafe and were on Home and Away 3 months later LOL. There are lots of beaches on the way to Palm, its only an hour north of Manly.

We are thinking about this. We went their before kids and loved it. The penguins returning in the evening is one of those brilliant thinks that will stay with you forever.

Ill have a look at the other stuff but of course I wont drive my wife and three kids for a 6 hour round trip to see a road that some cars race on sometimes.

Blue mountains are overrated IMO.

Hunter Valley is nice if you like wine - can recommend James Wine Tours.
