Hi all, I am contemplating a long weekend skiing over the Easter weekend, leaving Thursday night and coming back Easter Monday. Where possible in the past we've gone as a family to Tignes for the whole Easter week. Due to a change of job circumstance, I've gone from being unable to go (and the wife/kids booked up to go and visit her dad - nowhere remotely alpine however), to suddenly having the time to do it, but would be on my own unless I can convince a mate or my dad to come also (or if a PHer with a good skiing level wants to come along, more than welcome).

Now, Easter is late this year (mid April) so I will have to go somewhere high up to stand a chance of decent snow, I'll also need to fly given the time available, and am leaning towards an all in package with a catered chalet if possible. So, has anyone any recommendations of companies they've done this sort of thing with? I've googled, and there are a few places but none seem to have availability at this time. Alternative is I sort all elements separately which is a possibility. Lastly grateful for any advice for resorts close to Geneva that are high enough and would be worth a look.

Thanks for reading smile

depends how confident you are in the whole process- airports, ski luggage, trains/ busses, hire cars.....

you will also struggle to find many companies doing long weekend package holidays. if it were me I'd be doing the following:

- book cheap flights to Geneva (one of the cheaper places to fly due to sheer number of flights)
- short list the closest/ highest resorts
- research the short list of resorts for: air bnb, hotels, short term lets, B&B's, see where offers the best options for accommodation
- or get onto 'snowheads' forum, look up the chalet section. stick your details/ requirements up- wait on private/ small catered chalet companies to offer what accommodation options they have.
- hire the smallest car possible (these are usually pretty cheap, possibly cheaper than transfers!)
- wait as long as possible and go to where has the best snow within 2hrs drive of Geneva with the best accommodation budget!

The other option compared to "high" is "north" at that time of year too. Sweden/ Norway etc.

Hochsolden or Hochgurgle in the Austrian Tyrol. Plenty high and good levels of snow at the moment. Colleague just returned from Hochgurgle. Fly to Innsbruck and coach from there. Not a long journey and well worth the trip. You'll love the skiing. Google is your friend!
