As per title really, I need a hotel near to the institute for a meeting on Thursday morning, so would like an hotel for Wednesday night. Limited funds, so cheap and cheerful. Any suggestions please.

The IMechE building is on Birdcage walk. I had my IET Chartered engineer interview there when the Savoy place building was closed.
Not knowing your budget, I can only suggest trying here:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hotels+near+bird...

http://www.londontown.com/NearByHotels/Hotels/1328...

a couple here from £99/night to £500/ night.

Good luck!

I would give ImechE a call, they may have a deal with hotels or B and B, might even have some rooms within the building.

They might also have a contract rate with a local hotel too.
Hell, they might even pick up the bill.

You are not far from Victoria and hotels.com throw up this choice.

I go to the RICS next door regularly and have been to many meetings in the engineers. Nice building.

OP, if you're going to a meeting there: it's 'institution' and 'mechanical'.

Thank you.

I blame my lunchtime wine consumption.
